Our events provide an opportunity for CoMO entrepreneurs and people interested in joining a startup to meet other like-minded individuals, exchange ideas, and make powerful connections, such as finding a new business partner, mentor or that elusive rock-star software developer.
Whether you currently have your own business, are considering starting one or joining an existing startup; getting together with other entrepreneurs is a great way to learn about the rapidly growing CoMO startup scene. You never know what opportunities may arise from meeting others! If you'd like to create an event, please feel free to contact the group's organizer.
We are pleased to support the following:
1MillionCups Columbia - 1 Million Cups began in April 2012 in Kansas City, the hometown of its founding organization, the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. Kauffman Labs is a program of the Kauffman Foundation. Each Wednesday morning in each 1 Million Cups city, two early-stage startups present their companies to a diverse audience of mentors, advisers and, most importantly, other entrepreneurs. Each founder presents for six minutes and then fields audience questions for another 20 minutes. every Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. in the Boone Electric Satellite Systems Inc. training Room, 500 East Walnut Street, Suite 102, Columbia, Missouri.
Downtown Incubator Pizza Party - first Wednesday of every month at 500 East Walnut Street, Suite 105, Columbia, Missouri. Join members of the Downtown Incubator for pizza and conversation! Event is open to the public.
Startup Weekend Columbia - September 13-15, 2013. This a 54-hour event where individuals come to pitch a new business idea, form a team around those ideas, build out the business all weekend with the help of great mentors, and then present in front of judges at the end of the weekend. Last year we sold out with 125 participants with 22 teams/businesses created. We are proud to have been the origin of companies such as Zapier (which has secured over $1.3 million in funding and is a part of the Y Combinator), OneCDS (which received $350,000 within three weeks of Startup Weekend last year), along with many others like last year's winner Fundrunners who are still operating and growing. This will be Columbia's third Startup Weekend and we can't wait to see what will come from it!
