We have a place and time, thanks for all that voted. Almost 700 members strong now in the MD/DC/VA metro area, now it is time to actually start to get things done. Time to meet, mobilize teams and start collaborating. Match making time has arrived. We have a large array of developer, creative, entrepreneurial, start-up and other talent to get the ball rolling. We’ve had our tech meetups, we’ve brought our own ideas, and we got together to define how, when andwhere we want to meetup. These were important first steps to help us move towards collaboration and will continue to play a part defining how we do it. Now it’s time to team up, identify our needs and begin the process of working together to accomplishing the task of bringing that great idea, that bold project closer to reality.
The talking is over, the stage is set and the orchestra is engaged – now it is time to dance. Let the match making begin. Everyone needs additional resources from time to time. Some are looking to share equity in a project or idea. Some are looking to establish a contract with the right candidate. So are looking for partners/co-founder to meet their immediate skill, financial or other resource need.
In a past few meetups, it was very difficult to pry everyone away from the networking phase of the event. At some events there were more developers present than entrepreneurs, start-ups, creatives and other types. In some, there were more entrepreneurs than any other type of member. We’ve tried different approaches to get you all together at one event with mixed results, so now we will combine the best of what worked and a little of something new. Our members love networking, sharing ideas and carrying on discussions in small groups. So, we are combining the best of these three characteristics into one event. We are going to borrow the concept of speed dating and apply it to matching members together based on needs and disciplines. Developers may need graphic designers, entrepreneurs/start-ups may need developers, and/or everyone may need funding – you get the picture.
This event was one of many great ideas proposed in our last meetup, Co-Creation and Collaboration for Apps/Web & Product Dev, and we are going full steam ahead with it. Planning is in progress to make this event as productive and fun as possible.
