How would you like to have the chance to pitch your startup idea to two of the world’s most renowned entrepreneurs?
If you’re like most young entrepreneurs, you’re working on your unique business idea yet struggling to find customers & investors that would get your business off the ground. You may be faced with people who don't "get it" or engage in "pay for play" for the chance to pitch angel investors. Help is here!
To help you get on the road to securing customers & capital, we are organizing Startups on a Global Stage – a startup pitch workshop and competition that will help you get a step closer to achieving your dreams while providing you three extraordinary benefits:
1. Polish your pitch!
2. Help you make the most of your pitch, with exclusive live video feedback from Jason Cohen – successful startup founder and mentor
3. Get you and your business exposed to Jason Calacanis - founder of Open Angel Forum and an investor himself
Not looking for investment? Participate and POLISH YOUR PITCH so that your customers, partners and potential employees have a clear vision of what your company is all about, and can spread your message.
This same startup pitch competition is happening in dozens of cities worldwide and our local entrepreneurs have the amazing opportunity to put Puerto Rico on the global business map as the event is broadcast live on the This Week in Startups Global Meetup Show. The winner in each city gets to pitch Jason Calacanis live on the show. That could be you getting global exposure!
Be a part of the ‘Startups on a Global Stage’ and you’ll have your 1 minute to tell your story and captivate the world. Join us September 21st at the Colegio de Ingenieros y Agrimensores. Startups on a Global Stage is your ticket to global business recognition. Head to the the signup page as places are limited.

Talk about this Meetup
Hey guys. Startups on a Global Stage was an awesome event. I hope more events like it take place in Puerto Rico.
On that note, next week, on Friday, November 5, Contactica will be hosting a Barcamp (more info here: http://barcampsj.org/
)
I have created a newsletter to track all the startup related events. Hopefully with your help we can keep the community moving forward. Sign up here: http://hram.us/30z3
Cheers.
Posted by Hector Ramos October 27, 2010 at 10:43 PMThese meetups are an invaluable opportunity to accelerate the development of local ventures through networking, markedly increased reach via the use of live streaming video to a focused audience and the possible viral effect this may have. It is of utmost importance that we, as local entrepreneurs, foster this kind of activities and encourage others to participate. Doing so will only add value to our own business efforts and foster our entrepreneurial community and knowledge-based economy.
Posted by Luis J Almodóvar September 26, 2010 at 8:30 AMI am very thankful to the organizers of last week's Meetup, Marcos Polanco and Ramphis Castro, for the great opportunity we all had to get exposed to such important resources as Jason Cohen and Jason Calacanis. I would also like to thank all the entrepreneurs who were in attendance for all the support and excellent discussions of their business ideas. I never thought that such a casual meeting could serve as a launching platform for global exposure and extremely valuable coaching.
Posted by Luis J Almodóvar September 26, 2010 at 8:16 AMOK, got all your info. See you all tonight!
Posted by Lon Harris September 21, 2010 at 9:26 PMThere is no obligation to pitch. We only have a one minute slot to pitch the #TWiST audience, so we will select a local 'winner' prior to the event out of all those who sign up for the pitch competition.
Otherwise, it is not a requirement for attendance.
We do encourage you to pitch if you have a business looking for funding, but even in my case, I'm not at that stage so I will not be pitching tomorrow night.
Posted by Hector Ramos September 20, 2010 at 2:58 PMAre all attendees either expected or encouraged to pitch, even if it's their start-up projects or current businesses?
