Introduction to Big Data Discussions: Professor Paul Beckman, Chair, Department of Information Systems
3.30-4 pm :1 st Speaker: Rishi Yadav, CEO Infoobjects. Rishi will be covering how Open Source Software and Commodity Hardware is the realistic choice to solve Big Data Problems. Rishi will be talking about Hadoop and its ecosystem partners and how they are disrupting the marketplace. His Focus will be on Apache version of Hadoop rather than any vendor implementation. Later in the talk focus will shift to Analytics and how a new set of Big Data tools are emerging which will work solely with Hadoop.
Rishi Yadav is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Delhi, with 15 years of experience designing and developing business and financial applications for HP, Wells Fargo Bank, Cisco Systems and Netflix. He is an open source software expert, teaches intensive developer courses, advises Silicon Valley firms on Big Data trends and technologies, and has been featured in industry events and interviews as an open source/Big Data evangelist.
4 -4.30 pm: 2nd Speaker,David Burdett, SAP. David will be speaking about "Open Source vs. Closed Source Big Data Strategies: Getting the Best Value out of Big Data".
David Burdett is a member of SAP's Product Architecture and Technology Strategy Group. Prior to joining SAP, David worked in Architecture and Product/Solution Management roles with Commerce One. Before that he worked for a smart card company on internet/mobile payments and in management consultancy for over 20 years including Ernst & Young (now CapGemini). His current focus is on how businesses can leverage Big Data and Database Technologies - including SAP HANA, Hadoop and NoSQL - for business benefit.

Kaustav P. “KP” Chaudhuri is the Founder of Lead Socially Inc. He was part of a team which wrote The First Mile(John Wiley) a book on entrepreneurship, which motivated him to write SEE,FEEL,ASK,ACT: 4 Rules of Leading Socially which is in the editing stage. He is also a leading Meetup organizer in SF having almost 6000 members in his 2 Startup Mind Meetups. He holds an MBA from XLRI Institute of Management.
