One of the packages I purchased this spring was infected with what I thought might be Tracheal mites and destroyed the hive in ten days. Or it could have been Chronic Paralysis Virus [CPV] which have the same symptoms. CPV has no known cure as it is a virus. I had ordered oxalic acid as a treatment, but by the time I got it the hive was down to about 500 or so bees. I gave it 2 doses (at one week intervals). I then introduced a swarm to the hive and it has been doing great ever since. Oxalic acid is good for both Tracheal and Varora mites. If anyone is infected, let me know and I can treat it for you at NC. I'm going to treat all my hives before winter close-up just to be safe this year, anyone interested let me know.
