SI Boardgamers TOURNAMENT OF TOURNAMENTS!

Join us on the last Sunday of every month for a Board Game Tournament hosted by our friends at Myriad Ga
mes!
With a $5 entry fee, there will be cash prizes for the top 3 finishers in every Tournament (the exact split to be determined). $1 from every entry will be added to a Champion's Pool to be awarded at the end of the Tournament year (June 2014).

Participants will be awarded points on a[masked] basis. First place finisher gets 7 pts, with the Fourth place finisher getting 2 points. All other Tournament entrants will receive 1 pt for participating. So, just by entering all 12 Tournaments, you'll have received 12 points!

At the end of the 12-game Tournament of Tournaments, the top 3 finishers will split the Champion's Pool (with the exact split to be determined).

We'll be taking a poll of Meet-Up members to determine the more popular choices for Tournaments games. Then, at each Tournament, we'll vote on which of those games we'll play at the next Tournament!
Tournaments will most often consist of 4 preliminary rounds, with the 4-to-6 highest scoring entrants getting seats in the Final round. Longer games will have only 3 rounds, and then a Final.

We'll keep a tally of everyone's scores here and at Myriad Games, so everyone can check where they stand. We can use this page to talk about what games we'd like to play next, and what we'll do with the money when we win!

Some of the games we're considering are: 7 Wonders, Ascension, Carcassonne, Dixit, Dominion, Guillotine, Race For the Galaxy, Roll Through the Ages, San Juan, Ticket to Ride and Tsuro. What other games would you like to see in our TOURNAMENT OF TOURNAMENTS?

NOTE: The Tournament does not supersede or cancel the regular Sunday Meet-up. All members are welcome to come at any time during the day and play whatever they like. There is no obligation to participate in the Tournament.

We can definitely put Stone Age on our short list of Worker Placement games to vote on. It plays quicker than Agricola, doesn't it? ... I can add Slide 5 to No Thanks in our Card Game category. ... Survive: Escape from Atlantis is one of my all-time favorites (for now), but it tends to run long, which would make it a hard game to fit into a Tournament format.

Cranium, Pictionary, (team game of Morphology!)... we need some "right brain" games represented! LOL

"Party Games" will one of the categories we'll be voting on. I think we can put Dixit in that category. Cranium & Pictionary wouldn't lend themselves well to the Tournament format, because they're more of a team game. ... Catan also would be a tough fit, because it's a longer game, and we'd like to get in 3 or 4 preliminary rounds before the Finals. ... So, we still need a few more ideas for Party-type games that don't involve teams...

A lot of great ideas! The officially-sanctioned King of Tokyo Tournament inspired our local Tournament, so I want to make that the final game in our series, next May. ... If you can help us create a separate Co-operative Game Tournament I'd be all in favor of putting BG & Pandemic on that list! :)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
