Another great hike. Bailey and I thought the moderate level and location were perfect as we got a good workout, wonderful views, dog friendly trail, and met nice people.

This hike is a challenging climb to the top,( no matter where you start) but once up there the views are worth the challenge....I like the counter clock wise direction since this way going down I can still enjoy the views. Caution.. the cows enjoy the HH trail as well.

Hi. I'm the one who suggested the hike to Chris and will be there to help lead the hike. I do this hike semi-regularly for exercise. The initial climb is fairly steep, and like most hills gets steeper as you go. The good news is the second part of the climb is optional, and will make the total mileage about .5 mi. less. The Franklin Ridge Loop has both a steep descent and a steep climb on it, no matter which way you go. I prefer to go in the clockwise direction, as that's the steeper way to go to climb, but it's easy enough to go in the counter-clockwise direction.

If anyone has any questions about the hike, please feel free to ask. I will be at the trail-head by 8:45 am.

No problem, Chris, glad to share my hike with everyone. I am particularly fond of the HH trail and surrounds. While not a whole lot of trails, they're very lightly used and give a lot of opportunity for solitude and peace and quiet. I'm also quite fond of the singletracks in the Rankin Park area; several nice little spots for peace and quiet; even a little meditation break out in the beauty of the woods. :-)

I Updated the difficulty rating of the Franklin Ridge Loop hike from MODERATE to a new rating of MODERATE++ which means along the route you may encounter several sections of long and somewhat STEEP areas of UP and DOWN uneven dirt surfaces, and a 6 mile hike on these conditions has been considered strenuous for hikers that are used to moderate posted hikes with this group . This route is Challenging for Moderate hikers and therefore I'm not Recommending this hike for beginners ! Please consider this updated info as to your ability and hike within your means .
