Hike Mulholland Dr. - Moraga - Urban Hike 5-Mile loop Rated Moderate Minus

A Great Little hike - Perfect for Sunday Morning !

Discovery Hikers are exploring a little different kind of hike this week. We call these Urban hikes and this is how many of us got started before Meetups Hiking Groups were invented.

Not considered easy be any means but a nice steady climb of about 800 feet and plenty of flat and mellow sections to catch your breath and check out the valley views of Moraga that make this hike a favorite of ours.

NOTE :  The Organizers have this hike Rated : Moderate Minus , The Moderate part is the climb up an old abandon roadway along the ridge of Mullholland dr. The Minus part is walking on Surface Streets to get there and back . Approx. 80 % on Surface Streets and the balance on Dirt surfaces, single track trails that connect to form a Loop of 5 miles. Allow 2 - 2 1/2 hours round trip

NOTE :  This hike is among some of the more easier events we do on a regular basis. If you'd like a little more gentle hike on sure footing, and still get your heart rate up then this might just be what you need. Compare this level of difficulty to Lafayette reservoir Lower loop ,maybe 1 1/2 times around .

The Organizers recommend wearing sturdy comfortable hiking footwear and are reminded to bring with each of you plenty of drinking water for the 2 hour hike.

If weather is forecast rain then this event could still go as planned if the group decides to hike with umbrellas and doesn't mind wet conditions . Keep an eye on the updated message board to see current hike information.

Discovery Hikers are taking a break from the trails to check out new and sometimes old favorites that remind us of how we all got started , hope you can make this one .

Another great hike! The cool, crisp air was ideal for hiking. Very interesting urban-style hike through serene neighborhoods with gorgeous homes and meticulous landscaping throughout the area. The views from the top of Mulholland Drive were spectacular in every direction. In one particular area, there was a huge section of beautiful Yellow Mustard among the surrounding Green hillside. What a treat to see nature at its best in the Spring! As always, it was really fun to share this hike with such a nice group of people who love the outdoors and nature!

Sue and I thought the hike started at 8 AM.. We went ahead and did the hike anyway. Great views but no Llamas.. We somehow missed the street to the left to get into the park but we went to the end of Ascot and caught the trail there. I think we should have gone to Donald. It doesn't matter, a very nice day for a short hike.

Sorry we missed you and sue. I thought about that Ascot dr. entrance as we've done the Donald Dr. route a few times now and maybe the group need's a change of pace. Look for us to get together for another hike up on the Moraga Ridge tops real soon !
