A perfect route for a warm day. 8 mile round trip with 11 hikers at a moderate pace . Nice to chat with those who joined us and enjoyed the Goats show at the halfway rest stop . Special thanks to our group leaders today Kevin and Christopher for keeping an eye on things . And AWESOME photo work by Linc to highlight the days events . Ohh and the Lafayette Boulogne Coffee break was a welcome relief for our newly completed efforts . Hike on !

Very pleasant hike! Weather was perfect....nice and cool with a refreshing breeze. Beautiful, shaded trail and gorgeous views of the reservoir along the way. At the halfway point, next to the upper staging area, there was a large herd of goats grazing and relaxing in a fenced field. So many goats all together in one place! Very interesting to see some of them balance on their hind feet and stretch really high up the tree to eat the leaves on the branches. This definitely added to an already fun hike! Amazing what some goats will do for a meal! Enjoyed the after-hike coffee and lunch at La Bolange, too! Thank you to Chris for organizing and leading another great hiking adventure!

Sorry we couldn't make it this morning, been a heavy week. Will catch you next week, I have a dental procedure on Thursday, hopefully it will not impede the hike.

I have looked on the map and the photo above. The bear creek trail starts at the bear creek staging area and goes into Briones (where the archery range is etc. The photo above is at the Briones reservoir so are we not going into the Briones Park, ie are we crossing Bear Creek road and walking towards the reservoir.

Parking lot is on Bear Creek Rd - Close to the intersection of Bear Creek and Happy Valley Rd on the other side of the EBPRD park entrance ( see the included address map for location ). It's a gravel parking lot ( holds about 50 cars ).

Hi, anyone interested in car pooling from the Danville/San Ramon area? Or any points along the way? Dee, I could pick you up in WC if you still need a ride.

Is there anyone I can carpool with from the Concord/Pleasant Hill/Walnut Creek area? Will be happy to pay the driver for gas and mileage to and from Orinda.

Thank you for being honest. I would not want to hold anybody up. I do walk on a regular basis and hike up hills, but that is at my own pace, but I do like a workout

I haven't hiked with your group because I am 70 yrs old, but I do hike up from F street in Martinez to the top of Carquinez strait and Mt Wanda. Do you think I could join this hike?

The speed of the hike might be an issue for you . I always let the group as a whole group effort decide on the pace of the hike. I got to be honest there are some conditioned regular weekly hikers in this group that are rather fast and that may be uncomfortable for you . If your worried about that , just keep an eye out for a more easy hike and rated Moderate Minus , we do have a couple a month . Thanks for asking .

80 % - only the start to get to the trail is in the sun on this hike .
