You know...It's never to early to go to a Summer Fest. So let's hit the road and head for Weko Beach in Bridgman, MI for the 8th Annual Lake Michigan Shore Wine Festival. The one day mega event showcases the areas finest wines & spirits, great music, cooking demonstrations & gourmet food by some of the area's finest chefs along the golden sands of Weko Beach.
There are more food options than ever this year! A new restaurant has opened in the concession stand at Weko Beach. Beach Town Grill has traditional beach fare plus exciting options like fish and chips or strawberry shortcake.
The Lake Michigan Shore Wine Festival is a showcase event where guests sample (tastes or by the glass) all of the wonderful Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trail locally-grown-and-produced varietals and wines from Tabor Hill, Contessa, Domaine Berrien, Fenn Valley, Karma Vista, Lawton Ridge, Lemon Creek, Round Barn, Founders Wine Cellar, Free Run, Hickory Creek and Warner. Wrap this into a day filled with sun & sand, extraordinary cuisine from local restaurants, rock, blues, R&B, and a dazzling sunset and you have one fantastic summer festival ideal not only for wine aficionados but for the entire family.
Bands for this year include:
P.S. Dump Your Boyfriend (Dance)
Lady Sunshine & The X Band (Blues)
Robbie Fulks (Country)
Duke Tumatoe (Pop & Rock)
There are several hotels in the area minutes from the wine fest. There is a Super 8 in Sawyer less than 5 mins. from the fest. Also, there is camping nearby at Warren Dunes State Park. I will be staying in a mini-cabin at the state park and have space for two more people, if you're interested. :)
Warren Dunes State Park is located on Red Arrow Highway in Sawyer, MI. All questions & comments about camping can be posted on this event page and members need to make their own arrangements and inquiries about camping availability.
Admission to the festival is $15 which includes a souvenir wine tasting glass. Kids 12 and under are FREE. Advance admission tickets (save $5) are available at www.Ticketweb.com or at Harding's Friendly Market in Sawyer (No service fee). Tickets can also be purchased at the door. Wine Tickets (by taste or glass) will be available at the fest.
Parking and shuttle buses will be available at designated lots in Bridgman (look for the signs). No coolers allowed. Limited chairs will be at the fest but it's best to bring your own lawn chairs, your beach wear, lotion, and other summertime items. I stole this meetup from another group, so if you're interested in meeting more people, the larger group will be meeting at round tables in the fest area as well as the beach area adjacent to the fest. Look for yellow balloons to spot them.
The Lake Michigan Shore Wine Festival in Bridgman, MI will feature over 20 wineries, food & craft booths and 5 live bands playing a variety of rock, pop, dance, blues & jazz along the sandy beaches of Weko Beach.
Bridgman, MI is located off of I-94 at Exit 16. Drive north on Red Arrow Highway to stop light in Bridgman, then west on Lake Street.
Since I'm attending, I thought I'd post this on here in case anyone wanted to make a spontaneous trip with me. :) It sounds like a lot of fun. I mean, how can you go wrong with a WINE festival?? ;)
Thanks & hope you can make the trip.
