All SCU members are welcome for this session. This is a really long list. Most are easy on purpose, that is, easy to make sound good for the performance, and for all levels to play.

Some of these songs will be one time, quick tunes that I am pretty sure we will perform based on past run throughs. Others will be played to see if they make the cut. I am hoping we get 15-20 songs to perform. And those will be rehearsed again at the extra rehearsal session May 8.

Members who are definitely going to the May 11 gig, please to sit in the middle near each other so you can hear one another better.

Here is some homework:

Memorize chord progression for our round. Everyone already knows the words to all the songs: Coming ‘Round the Mountain, Saints Go Marching In, Sloop John B, Froggy Went a Courting, Red River Valley. Find the Round HERE

Also, memorize “Lion Sleeps Tonight.”  Same pattern: C-F-C-G7. Find it HERE

You can bring your music, but I will make everyone turn it over and make eye contact with me during those songs.

If we overlooked one of your fave songs that you think would be a great performance piece, please let Sunny know!

NOTE from Jack regarding links to music - Everybody should already have copies of this music, so I am only provided links to individual songs. I have NOT made a comprehensive download package for this meetup. Print what you need. Everything should be available on the Meetup Website: "Pages," "Alphabetical Songs Link" page.

##

Bi-Monthly Uke Sessions: 1st and 3rd Wednesday evenings of each month. Come at 6:45 pm to tune-up and talk. We play from 7 to 9 pm. During the winter season we meet at Wilkins School Community Center, 7604 Charlston Ave., Regent Square, PA 15218. During the summer we meet at Biddle's Escape, 401 Biddle Ave., Regent Square, PA 15221.

Format: Moderator leads each session, warming up with old favorite tunes. A suggested playlist with old and new tunes is posted prior to each session. After we play and make announcements, we jam "song-circle" style. The setting is friendly and informal with no commitment required - just bring your uke and join us. We encourage solo play for advanced players.

Music: Our text is "The Daily Ukulele, 365 Tunes." We also use tunes from websites, such as Dr. Uke. If you would like to introduce a new song to the group, please bring a minimum of 20 copies to pass out.

Experience: None required! All levels are welcome, from beginners to professionals. If you don't know the chords... just sing louder.

Fabulous! What a great group, but Regent Square's a bit of a trek from the Northside.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
