1st Wednesday of Month - Regent Square Area

It's Steel City Ukuleles Birthday!

Happy Birthday The chords: F-C-F-Bb-F-C7-F

From 365

59th Street Bridge song (Feeling Groovy), p. 97

Happy Together, p. 98

Side by Side, p. 210

With a Little Help From My Friends, p. 272

Non 365

Shangri-La; Fnd it HERE; video:

Notes: the riff I notated at top is played first, then Uke 1 riff played second, others just play Uke 2 chords twice.

Sunday, Find it HERE; video:

The video I first saw was eugeneukulele on solo uke, but the vid is gone but Ukulele Ike will certainly do!

Notes: don't worry about the intro chords, I'll probably just play as a solo

Home, Find it HERE; video:

Notes: don't worry about the stuff between my notated brackets, we won't play, ladies sing non-italicized, men italicized, and learn the whistle melody. Note that D/F# should be played as “D”

From SUNNY: I'm doing this playlist early because I want to send the word out early that we will do open mic after the playlist songs. This gives time for people to practice if they want to participate.

To be clear, playing during open mic is “completely optional.”  I will not be putting anyone on the spot.

It will allow some people to nosh and chat and also allow people to show the group what they like to play on their own. As Lisa mentioned in a previous email, there are so many songs that may not be group material but lovely in small groups, or as duets and solos.

Bi-Monthly Uke Sessions: 1st and 3rd Wednesday evenings of each month. Come at 6:45 pm to tune-up and talk. We play from 7 to 9 pm.  During the summer we meet at Biddle's Escape, 401 Biddle Ave., Regent Square, PA 15221. During the winter season we meet at Wilkins School Community Center, 7604 Charlston Ave., Regent Square, PA 15218.

Format: Moderator leads each session, warming up with old favorite tunes. A suggested playlist with old and new tunes is posted prior to each session. After we play and make announcements, we jam "song-circle" style. The setting is friendly and informal with no commitment required - just bring your uke and join us. We encourage solo play for advanced players.

Music: Our text is "The Daily Ukulele, 365 Tunes." We also use tunes from websites, such as Dr. Uke. If you would like to introduce a new song to the group, please bring a minimum of 20 copies to pass out.

Experience: None required! All levels are welcome, from beginners to professionals. If you don't know the chords... just sing louder.

Sunny did a wonderful job of leading. The weather was beautiful and the crowd was great. We celebrated the 2nd anniversary of SCU and had some very delicious cupcakes.
