The plan is...to meet, then start walking. Leaving at 9 A.M. sharp. Do a fairly quick-paced loop completing the circumference of the park. It is somewhat hilly with varied terrain (soft to muddy, loose rock/gravel) & trail width. The recent storms has made for some debris as well as some fallen timber obstacles but nothing is too tough or impassable for an average able bodied, somewhat nimble hiker. This is not what I would deem a 'beginner' hike nor is it any sort of obstacle challenge. While attempting to be of an hour & a half in length of time, depending on the group speed, it could stretch to the 2 hour range. If there is a question or concern on whether this event is doable & potentially fun for you, please contact me via email to discuss. As always, inclusion of a super friendly dog is a treat!
What you need:
Some water or at least a container of some sort. There is a fountain at the start by the park office/park entrance. Decent footwear...probably not those spiffy white Nikes as it could be somewhat muddy in places. Lastly, while the ability to climb trees is an admirable physical quality, it is not in any way needed on this event. Smiling while sweating however, is a most welcomed characteristic addition. )
There is a portoble toilet at the start & somewhere at the halfway point of the loop. This is a special city park with a unique history that serves people with a variety of interests...& the Observatory is pretty cool too! Ok, no excuses...let's hike. If not this one...then another's!
Sorry members only...no guests. Oh, & please...do not RSVP 'no' unless changing your status. I really don't need to know that you are not intending to go. Thanks.
