Jews in the Los Angeles Mosaic Tour @ the Autry National Museum. Brunch follows.

We have arranged to have a docent led tour of a new exhibit at theAutry National Museum. The exhibit took 8 years to prepare and focuses on the history of Jews in Los Angeles. It explores how a growing Jewish community settled, prospered and helped shape the economy, politics and culture of a city – and how the diversity and dynamism of Los Angeles have transformed the local Jewish community for the past 160 years.

This groundbreaking exhibit is the story of neighborhoods like Boyle Heights and Fairfax and people like Billy Wilder, Max Factor, and Frank Gehry.  See how Jews helped change the region by recruiting the Brooklyn Dodgers, inventing the Barbie doll, and joining other Angelenos in electing the city’s first African American mayor.

The exhibit features more than 150 stories, documents, objects and images of family, community and society.

“Arguably the most ambitious attempt to encapsulate LA’s vibrant Jewish history.” – Jewish Journal

COST: Admission to the museum and the docent led tour costs $5 per person.  We will collect this $5 fee at the museum.  Please have exact change if possible.

RESERVATIONS: Reservations are required.  Please call John Seeman at (310)[masked] or send him an email: [masked]  to make your reservation(s).  We need to know how many people are coming so that the museum will have time to arrange enough docents for our group.

Everyone is welcome to attend this event whether or not you are a member of the Social Circle.

LOCATION: The Autry is located at 4700 Western Heritage Way, Los Angeles, CA 90027  Phone:[masked]

OPTIONAL BRUNCH: There will be an optional brunch after the tour at about 12:30 p.m.  The brunch will be at the Crossroads West Cafe at the Autry.  The café offers a wide selection of soups, salads, freshly made sandwiches, burgers, baked goods, hot entrees and an assortment of beverages. You only pay for what you order.
