I can bring spartacus but you will have to excuse the half painted and badly painted models. I'll also bring Agricola and dominion.

well just for you farmie types, there's a new thread on the forum about the (trying hard not to laugh) "Agricola World Championships"... knock yourselves out!

I prefer playing against my opponents rather than against the game.

Had fun with Spartacus and the new expansion. Learning point - six people = longer playtime so pick the 7 starting influence short game. I had the most influence when we finished but Spartacus is not a game with an orderly path to victory - the fun's in the treacherous table play rather than any kind of strategy. If we had played just the first part of the next round I'd probably have been back in last place!

Fun parts - Sarantis taking Chris's bribe to not play a card on him.....and then playing it on him anyway, swapping Sarantis's gladiator (against his will) for the last fight after all bets were down and the creeping panic I had when Tim, my partner in the team fight, stood idly watching from a safe distance while I took on our two opponents alone - turned out he didn't have a cunning, treacherous plan he just wanted to grandstand, sauntering in at the end to perform a decapitation!

Finally, great to see more new members - might have to start looking for bigger premises. :)

Sarantis had to pay me back about 2 mins later, because he had to foil a scheme and only had a "pay to foil a scheme" card. Justice!

      June 21, 2013

    • Sarantis M.

I should have used the quote: "Come to the dark side... We have cookies!" :P It was great fun playing Spartacus again, really enjoyed the blood mess, the intrigues and the backstabbing!!! :P

Played Battlestar Galactica with 6 meeps. 2 cylons and a cylon sympathizer defeated us. I should have risked sacking the Admiral. Humanity has been failed, aaah!

Interesting idea, I still think you need less Cylons than Humans for the poor people to stand a chance! I think I'd just remove the whole turning into a Cylon aspect and maybe draw one of the remaining "You Are a Cylon" cards to resolve the effect, so could end up sending a player to sickbay, brig, etc.

      June 22, 2013

    • john

or for a six player game, 1 cylon max 1st half, 2 cylons max in the game, no semi-cylons...

There was probably room for one (maybe two) more tables at last night's ASDA meetup, but it was getting uncomfortably warm by the end of the evening. Perhaps we should try and arrange what games are to be played AHEAD of the evening, to get round the 20-30 'negotiation' session at the start.

If anyone wants to play ATTIKA (light resource-management euro, 2-4 players) I can bring that along (again) next time.

I had a great evening, and everyone was friendly and welcoming, despite the fact I was accused of being a toaster.

16 People - a new record for ASDA, following on from our record breaking Pin Green attendance last time - we're on a roll!

Can "Daniel 3" plus guest please join meetup as members if you plan to come again, just so we can keep track of numbers.

People can feel free to call me Jack if required. I have about 5 Daniel friends so we needed alternatives, especially when playing football!

      June 21, 2013

    • Tony A.

If there is a car park charge/refund scheme at Pin Green I'm afraid you're more likely to end up with some Pork Scratchings and a can of Tenants Super than tasty biscuits!

      June 21, 2013

  • Tony C.

Sarantis - sorry I couldn't make it - was hoping for a Yomi demo! Hopefully next time...

I'm loathed to commit to this as every time I have so far my workload has kicked it and I've ended up having to work late into the evening. but... I have missed the last two sessions at Pin Green for various reasons so I am starting to get withdrawal symptoms (ok I did have the Birmingham Game Expo in between but that is not the point. :O) )

I've never done the 3 hour session but I think I have some suitable games if I do make it can bring Forbidden Desert, Pandemic, Bohnanza and Bang! perhaps?

I can come along with my girlfriend if no-one minds a couple of newbies for the evening.

    June 15, 2013

    • Daniel P.

Joseph everybody is welcome and the games we play vary greatly in complexity so there will likely be something to your tastes. You will find everybody happy to accommodate new players for pretty much every game played. P.s. welcome to the club!

Talking to Tim last night we wondered f we could wheel out a large multi player wargame of the mighty fortress/Here I stand theme: diplomacy/strategy/builds (less meeples and tastefully coloured blocks) I have Conquistador (AH) but nothing more recent. Anyone interested?

    June 8, 2013

    • Duncan H.

Hammer of the Scots is a wonderful game. I have a copy myself. Perhaps you would be up for a game of that offline sometime.

      June 20, 2013

    • Duncan H.

Conquistador is one of the first 'proper' board games that I ever played. Loved it.

A sudden reversal. My wife is not feeling well. A small part of me says I shouldn't be celebrating that but I try to ignore it...

    June 20, 2013

    • john

I hope she feels better soon... and by soon I mean tomorrow... ;-)

I've re-swatted on Battlestar so I'll bring the base game along on the off chance, unless anyone insists on me bringing Village or Memoir 44 instead that is!

    June 19, 2013

    • Daniel P.

Unless of course, by claiming the game finishes in 3 hours he puts the human players into a risk taking mode forcing them to make hasty decisions that lead to their downfall. Hats off to you Daniel, a most subtle toaster head.

Nice thought Daniel, but I think there's enough risk for the humans as is! As the cylon I normally just screw up skill checks and try to get people bunged in the brig!

My wife double booked and didn't put it in the calendar. I'm not happy but also value my life. Sorry everyone!

Tempted but paid up my badminton fees already until September. I also need to do some exercise occasionally, being a computer programmer i do not get much exercise at work.

      June 19, 2013

    • Tony A.

Exercise is very bad for you - always makes me ache and feel all tired.

aya carumba - is this tomorrow? I thought it was next week! jeese, that will be my 3rd games night this week...

I have to confirm my availability with "The Calendar" but if I can attend I can bring The Village (2-4 meeps) or to hand I also have Battlestar Galactica (3+ meeps) though it's been a while so rules explanations may not be great! and Memoir 44 (2 meeps) Or I can just roll up again and play one that's there!
