I'm trying to contact the "Community Champion" at Morrisons supermarket in Letchworth. They also (like ASDA) allow local groups to use their training room (and their cafe) free of charge (I believe). We may get a few more people coming along if we have meet ups in different places during the month. I will let you know of developments.

That's so close to me, I wouldn't complain.

Sadly Morrisons in Letchworth closes at 9pm, so it's unlikely to be of any use to us. The hunt continues.

It would be nice to see more people at these meetings.

Astonishing, I know. I mean, that big building is obviously the Gordon Craig but until I saw this I didn't know Stevenage was a walled town!

Walls must be to keep the rabble in, can't imagine anyone would want to break in from the outside!

I'd really like to make it down this week, but I can't confirm yet.. I picked up a few interesting things at Essen. Rampage, Lewis and Clark, Caverna, Last will + expansion to name a few, I really fancy a full game of Lewis and Clark :)

It's a solid economic engine game, with a bit of worker placement thrown in. It will help to know the cards in the deck and their effects, so that you can develop a better strategy than mine. I suspect it will appeal greatly to our American cousins, due to the historical tie-in (I believe all the characters on the cards represent real historical characters.) There's also some clever mechanisms to ensure that you don't go backwards too far if things turn against you.

Yep I'd agree with that Tim, I got some lucky cards that allowed me to keep moving without constantly having to barter for horses with the locals.

Note for mark. No money collected ( sorry epic fail). £2 owed by me, Chris, Tim, Andrew, Paul and rob.

Good night. Beaten to second by a phenomenal acquisition of end of game points by Chris. It was simultaneously wonderful (I think he met almost all of the end of game conditions) and soul destroying!

I thought you had that in the bag from about half-way through. Amazed I ended up winning!

Might be able to make this (fingers crossed). If Chris is attending I'm in for Bora Bora. I have Dominant Species (but probably too long), Navegador, Trajan....

    • Tony C.

Gutted not too make it - sorry all. But glad Chris got to play Bora Bora - was it any good?

      December 7, 2013

    • Chris

Well, I won, so yes it was!

Another grat night! Played Bora Bora with Chris & Dan who despite beating me ino a lowly third place were utterly gracious in blocking me in choosing actions & Chris in his ultimaste victory. I still don't undrstand all those victory points Dan got with that green god card, hmmm!! I am sure he wouldn't cheat. Bora Bora is a good game with lots opportunities for Double entendres like like "oh, I think I'll have a lady this time!" We also played walk the plank several times I think I managed to get Dan & Chris's crew men in the drink once. And Masquerade which was a bit chaotic but good fun,. We got kicked out by the cartaker at 11.10 theres a first for me. Great night.

Dunno about Tony (not me) but I am officially a useless lump and cannot come cos of stuff. I am wondering if I can teach the dog how to play something simple, though, as the game withdrawal symptoms are starting. He should be able to manage Spartacus....or maybe Lords of Waterdeep. It's either that or grinding Meeples into a fine powder and snorting it.....Have fun all.

yeah, stuff, I have that too. Maybe next time.

Soooo, anyone bringing anything interesting? Haven't play Sparticus for a while; or Eclipse maybe...?

    November 28, 2013

    • Daniel P.

I'll bring eclipse. Been hankering to play that again for a while.
