Played dominant species, and won by one point while early leader Paul lost it somewhere in the middle. As I've always said this is a great game...

"...much changes around you - the environment changes, the resources that your species need". Yes, that IS the game!! Adapt to the environment or die! I strongly feel that if you played this game against a good player, you'd lose the majority of the time. You have plenty of options, and the more you play, I reckon the more familiar and less random things will feel. I love the way the board/earth shifts as people place and remove elements, and you struggle to adapt. Tony...I thought you said you weren't eating all those snacks, just holding them for your wife! Still, at least you didn't get strangled with the strawberry cables! ;-)

I've been undone! You are right, Tony....I lied about the popcorn...there was none.....I just so wanted the win!

I insisted on playing this time despite Tony flip flopping with John "I know you don't like it John.."!!, "Flip me!", I thought "If this is the second time we don't play 'cos of crawling up to John I will be flipped off!!" fortunately we played it, it was quite good. Pretty much the same as any other of the resource management games: wooden bits, choices/actions Being at the bottom of the food chain I think I did all right. Some others should consider playing with none, is worse than playing with some. Thanks Tony for very pleasant gaming evening. And we actually played the game advertised, despite a slight wobble. at last hooray!

I'm glad we played it Paul - I think part of it was me having read the Trajan rules the night before, so they were fresher in my memory than the D.S. But I really love D.S. - it's the game that has the most mileage in my collection, and it feels like the game that will take the longest time to master. Really enjoyed it...would you be up for another game of it, sometime...?
