Quick question - anyone played Clash of Cultures? Also, if anyone fancies another gaming night round mine, let me know and perhaps we can arrange a night - ahead of time with plenty of notice for those interested! :-)

I've set it up and added everyone. If anyone changes their mind just un-rsvp. I assumed a start of 19:30 but let me know if you want to change that.

      January 20, 2014

    • Tony C.

That's great - cheers John. Will need an early-ish start I suspect!

So we had a 4 player game of Cyclades, Paul had to leave 3 mins before the end as we overran the 3 hours (with this "90 minute" game!)

Paul, you'll be glad to know in your absence we all reached the victory condition at the same time, and the tie breaker was how much money we had left - which was zero gold each, giving us an epic 3 way joint win. Of course we all argued that if we hadn't been so rushed, and had known about the tie break condition, then we wouldn't have spent all our gold on the last turn and therefore would have had some left over to win the tie break...

      Still won didn't I... ;-)

I know we're quite spoilt by ASDA, but I do miss the tea and coffee.

    2 · January 17, 2014

    • john

yes, that's very hit and miss (and more often miss) - I blame Mark. 8-)

      January 17, 2014

Note to mark - 9 meeps attended, 1 first timer (so free), 7 paid £2.00/ea, and Tim forgot his lunch money. So £14.00 collected, £2.00 owed.

Great night again, played Cyclipides! Had it's ups and downs that Kraken being launched at 2 of my fleets after Paul(green) convinced John(red, yeah, I know!) that I was the greater danger and then Paul (Green) invaded Johns island!! In the end it was a 3 way draw between me, John & Duncan, though they said they could have hung on to some gold to win, whereas I needed to spend all mine to get the metropolis!! Great fun!

Enjoyed trying out Corcordia for the first time - definitely my kind of game. Thanks to all for a fun evening. One question - do we have to finish at 10pm? Isn't Asda 24 hours? I'd happily stay on for later gaming, and it's always a shame to have to pack up before a game has finished.

    January 17, 2014

    • Tony A.

Asda is 24 hours, unfortunately the free gaming room is not! Currently, we are meant to be out by ten as that is when there is a shift change. Generally, though, nobody in Asda seems to know who we are or care why we are there at any time so there has been talk of trying to get the session extended but, so far, to no avail.

      January 17, 2014

    • john

oh, I got an update from mark - going past 10 (officially) is a definite no no. But no-one has chucked us out yet...

      January 17, 2014

  • Trish C.

I'll get the hang of this soon... posted in the wrong place earlier. Just wanted to say thanks for a really enjoyable evening.. A very welcoming and fun group of people.. Looking forward to many more such evenings..

    January 17, 2014

    • Tony A.

Glad you enjoyed it, Trish - see you at Pin Green.

      January 17, 2014

  • Trish C.

I shall be there but not sure you can count me in that 8.... I'm a very 'newbie' so won't present much of a challenge at all!!!

    January 16, 2014

    • Trish C.

Again.. many thanks.. I was a little concerned at having no games to bring but feel very reassured!

      January 16, 2014

  • john

down to 8 now, who did we lose?

    January 16, 2014

    • Rob B.

yeah sorry, looks like i've got to work late tonight :(

      January 16, 2014

    • Tony A.

Oi, Paul! Mind your language, Kathie is coming tonight and I won't have you bandying your Spelontwerps about! And Concordia is indeed peaceful, fairly simple to learn but has enough options and consequences that it might well twist your brain a turn or two.

      January 16, 2014

  • Paul H.

    Firefly. Sounds interesting!

    January 14, 2014

    • Paul H.

      January 15, 2014

    January 14, 2014

    • Tony A.

"Psychopathic trait test". Who's been talking? They promised that would be confidential! I'm off to get a bottle of nice Chianti.....

      January 15, 2014

    • Paul H.

Lecter was way down the list of examples, watch out for surgeons, salesmen & bankers....

      January 16, 2014

  • Mark H.

    going to be in London

    January 15, 2014

  • Tony A.

Any thoughts on what people are gonna play yet?

I'm thinking of bringing Concordia , The Testament of the Duke De Crecy and BSG as back up. Haven't played any of 'em yet so am hoping to gauge if there is any interest so I can bone up on the rules for whatever is looking favourite!

    January 14, 2014

    • Tony A.

BSG is, indeed, Battle Star Galactica and I would be very happy to play that too but, i am informed, it may be a stretch to get it finished in time. If you are "au fait" with the rules it might speed things up a bit though.

      January 14, 2014

    • Paul H.

we have played and finished BSG at Asda before.

      January 15, 2014

  • David V.

I'll be coming, but not really up for a lengthy BSG. I will bring along some shorter alternatives. I enjoyed Firefly but not really enough for a replay. Might also be bringing a friend - will confirm tomorrow.

Might be going if I'm not working

    January 12, 2014

  • Graham r.

I'll try but might be working

    January 9, 2014

    • Tony A.

Hi Graham - just a tip, leave a message here if you are coming but are going to be late. If people know there is going to be a latecomer or two they can hold off starting any big long games til everyone is there and nobody gets left out that way.

      January 9, 2014

  • Kenda M.

Scouts that night so sorry guys! Finally back in the uk again so will be coming round again :)

    January 8, 2014

    • Tony A.

Oops, no offence intended! I have no idea what Scout persons are called cos I only went to Cubs for 3 weeks then gave up. You had to fork out for the uniform on the fourth week and....well.....it clashed with the Kenny Everett Show so I said I didn't like it and stayed at home!

      January 8, 2014

    • Kenda M.

Oh I have no issues with the beaver and cub leaders, infact I respect them because I couldn't handle the ages of the kids they have to deal with! Scouts are a bit more rowdy, but you can actually reason with them... Don't know how they manage with the younger kids :)
