Does anyone have any suggestions for good 2 player strategy and/or economic type games?

    August 13

    • Tony A.

If it is a battling type game you are after then War of the Ring is great (but it helps if you at least have a passing interest in LoTR) and Claustrophobia is reputedly very good - erm, spooky humans v. monsters in underground tunnels fightiness I believe. And, of course, Space Hulk. If you can beg/borrow/steal a copy.

    • Paul H.

Good choices. I had WoTR made up into a 6 x 4 board. So much easier to get the figures on and looks great! I've also got both of the others so if you fancy a go, let me know.

Played great game called Firefly based on some TV show.

I think when we played it at Pin Green we finished it didn't we? I seem to recall thinking I wasn't doing well but wasn't too far behind and then suddenly David and, I think, Simon were both one turn from victory......and I still wasn't doing very well! Still want another go!

      August 16

    • john

There's always pin green in 2 weeks... If Ster is coming to that one...

      August 16

  • Paul H.

I forgot to mention the starship card game we played which I thought was pretty good too!

    1 · August 15

    • john

Sure, I was the only player who knew you had the card, and I had the card that let me guess first. If I'd have known I was supposed to keep it in my hand rather than play it as soon as the round ended I would have won straight away and nobody else would have had a chance to guess, which I presume is supposed to be part of the fun of it...

Not sure what I think about it, it's not stand out really Love letter is still better, I think.

      August 16

  • john

Trish, did your friends enjoy themselves? I hope they weren't disappointed to come along and end up playing one of their own games...? That's one of the problems with smaller turnouts - there's less games to choose from and it's hard to get everyone to agree what to play. I think several people ended up playing games that weren't their first choice! Are we likely to see them again?

Note to Mark: 9 meeples attended, 2 new so 7 x £2 collected.

    August 14

  • john

Don't forget to bring some games if you have any! It looks like all the people that usually turn up with bags of games aren't coming...

    August 14

    • john

and no, nations wasn't the one I was thinking of... how about firefly, that was one of yours wasn't it?

      August 14

    • Simon J.

That was Ster's. I can ask her to bring it (now that I've heard from her, she's coming too)

      August 14

  • Graham r.

    August 14

  • Rob B.

    August 8

    • Rob B.

Damnit I'm not going to get my car back from service today so I've got nothing to port myself around in. I'll have to miss the meetup and see if I can get it :S

      August 14

    • john

Whereabouts are you based, maybe someone nearby can give you a lift...?

      August 14

  • Allan W.

    Heya,

    August 13

    • john

    • Tony A.

Dammit! And I'm stuck with a Warehouse full......

      August 9

    • john

Doesn't TC live in a Ware house?

      August 9

  • Shaun C.

Does anyone know of good Heroquest style games?

Just played Dungeon Quest, one I got from a charity shop for a steal at £2 and my girlfriend really liked it and asked for more.

I played Hero Quest as a kid so other than that any ideas?

    August 4

    • Tony A.

Your claims have unfashionable clothing and a bad haircut. Na Na Na nah Na! Actually I haven't played it with two but it works very well with three (two players controlling two heroes each) so I expect it would be good with 2. It's probably a better game with 3 than 5 as it runs quicker and has more focus. With 5 provides more opportunity to snaffle beer and snacks, though.

      cool stuff

      August 8

  • john

Hey, you know what game we haven't played in ages and everybody loves...? ECLIPSE!

    July 31

    • john

ok, by ages I mean at least a week, and by everybody I mean me... but still - eclipse! You know you want to...

      1 · July 31

    • Shaun C.

I'd play eclipse again, eventually i'll luck my way into a win!

      August 7

  • Graham r.

Gonna be able to make got new job yeh

    August 3

    • Tony A.

See, thats the right attitude - if your job gets in the way of a good game then ditch it!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
