I also would like to try Talisman

I have the 2nd edition of talisman and dungeon expansion. should anyone want to borrow it for a meetup let me know.

While talking Talisman people might want to check out Relic which is Talisman set in Warhammer 40K universe. It took a lot of reservation for me not to immediately buy it.
Anyway it's apparently pretty awesome although I find the board a bit too garish (would have preferred something a bit more dark and Blanche-y)

An epic 6 player game of Eclipse, "Techy" John (me) romps away with victory again with 34, Chris 2nd with 23, "ex-traitor" Duncan 22, "Traitor" Alex (Tim Jnr) 19, Paul 17, Tim 16. I think I'm now officially banned from playing the tech alien after 3 straight victories in two 3 player and a 6 player game... Everyone made the mistake of boxing themselves in to their own section of universe (except me that did it deliberately). I was the first to take on the crazy looking alien in the middle and then parked my entire fleet in the centre to dissuade everyone else from entering (and getting through into the rest of my un-defended planets)

To do a john: to be humble in victory and gracious in defeat...

      defeat? what's that?

Lots of fun playing agot. Didn't finish it but definitely could with some more experienced players. At least 4 people were in contention at the end and, although it obviously lasted hours, it didn't feel like it.

Playing the Lannisters is tough all multi fronts.

      April 5, 2014

    • Daniel P.

If the lannisters get a good mustering early they are a nightmare. Unfortunately for Andrew there was no early mustering and some aggressive attacks from two fronts.

Might not make this now - was hoping to finally sit in on an Eclipse session! If I can make it, I may be running a little late. Will try and update this space as soon as I know...

That's lucky, we had 2 games running and they were both full, so you'd have been playing solitaire...

      April 4, 2014

    • Paul H.

Well it rather depended when you got there. Everyone got a game no one had to spectate which is good cos that's the reason for the clubs existance!

Very good turnout if I have criticism it would be two large games that's were pretty long and intense. Still I suppose everyone had a good gaming experience. Very good turnout. The games dominated and packing eclipse stopped my post match analysis. My last blast at Duncan was a bit of a damp squib. John was winning when we decided to end the game so unless we'd really ganged up on john he was bound to stroll home with victory.

    Note to Mark: 12 meeples, 1 first timer for free, so 11 x £2.00 = £22.00 collected.

I am running about 15 mins late see you about 7:15ish

I am coming. I will bring a second copy of eclipse but will likely play a study in emerald if tony remembers it as me and eclipse have had a falling out recently...

Hehe - "Dan's Dodgy Delights"! Sorry to hear that Tony - you need to stick to less exotic snacks.....like gruel! ;-)

      April 4, 2014

    • Tony A.

That's why you scoffed 'em all before we'd finished setting up Eclipse!

OK - another question. What is the Mage Knight board game like ( http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/96848/mage-knight-board-game )? I don't usually go for 'dungeon-crawler' type games, but this seems to have some decent blends of mechanics. I'm guessing some (many?) of you will have played this. Worth getting?

    • Chris Y.

Yes, I need to bring that back down as well. I'll bring it along for you to look at.

      April 3, 2014

    • Tony C.

      Thanks Chris :-)

      April 4, 2014

  • Chris Y.

Just to set expectations, I'm likely to be 5-10 minutes late, as some bugger keeps adding sections of road between here and Stevenage (at least, I think that's the reason). However I will try to be on time and I am bringing Eclipse, so get a big table ready :)

    April 3, 2014

  • Paul H.

What about Eclipse? Could be right up your street Shaun! It features space travel, research and resources. All your hearts desires inn one game. Don't let Dan or John play 'cos they win! Or Chris for that matter. With the Aliens it's pretty cool!! Again don't let John near the techy, dudes!!

Three players, and a galaxy the size of the Isle of Wight! Yes, I am bringing it...

      April 2, 2014

    • Tony A.

Ah, the Isle of Wight.......just look out for the Ancients defending Blackgang Chine.

Hi all - has anyone seen/played this: http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/39339/android

Sounds seriously good/interesting, but from what I can gather, needs the right people..?

Also, has anyone out there played Planet Steam...?

    March 27, 2014

    • Sarantis M.

Other than that, I really liked the game and if you go for it, save me already a spot ;)

Thanks for the feedback Sarantis :-)
