Good meetup. Tony stormed to victory whilst distracting Tim and me with his bit of flesh (just to clarify he was playing slaanesh). Tim's plague bearers came second despite not knowing the difference between a sword andd a dandelion. That left me in last with the changer of ways. So in summary a fun game but clearly completely lacking in balance ;-)

Yaay, I won. The biggest factor in my victory was where the noble tiles ended up in the random placement. I had to be near them and they were in an isolated corner so I was kind of forced into focussing everything there. This made things simpler for me, the noob, than being in the open/spreading out. It also happened that my corner was first in the order for the "ruined" check at the end of the turn. This gives lots of points but only happens a fixed amount of times. I reaped the benefit of this in the last turn at the expense of Tim/Dan. The game is really good. I thought it might be quite intense or even grim but it's actually a bit of a romp with a great balance of planning, randomness and player screwage. I should also say that my victory was controversial as Tim had forgotten to use his special power that gave him extra points and we weren't sure how many he was owed so he may have deserved the title but, in the poignant and still relevant words of Nelson Muntz, "Ha Ha!" :-)

We also forgot that the noble token adds to the conquest value not the resistance so you were owed a few points as well.

In ancient Maya sat three civilisations, one a great empire(Johns son) with many buildings and people and stuff, and two beggars(John and me) sitting outside the kitchen waiting for scraps before harvest time.

I think you are protesting too much John. I think you and Tim need to have this out man to man. Can I watch? I'll bring popcorn. :-) BTW, i think it's time the infamous Son, Tiny Tim, Tim Jr. (or Alexander as I believe he is also known, but may be wrong!) signed up for his own account so all us senile codgers could be reminded of his name enough that we might be able to remember it properly!

Note to Mark: 6 meeples attented, TA/TG/AG(TJr)/SC all owe £2 after trying to pay with paper money (in one case somewhat optimistically with a £20 note (well, optimistic if he wanted change)). So £4 collected, £8.00 owed...

I picked up a copy of 'dungeon quest' the 1985 edition from a charity shop if anyone is interest I can bring it.
I have zero knowledge of the game though! Might appeal to paul, it has figures like mageknight!
