We came very close to winning dead of winter but, partly due to my inept rules reading early on, didn't have the resources. Then played some cockroach poker where sarantis sent me over the edge with a constant stream of cards that were definitely scorpions (apparently).

I had a great time yesterday - and I guess it was partly me allowing all the outsiders in as it was part of my secret objective! Really liked that it was a game where you had to work together as well, even though we didn't meet the main objective it was great fun!

Yes, I'm not always a fan of co-operative games but the way that everyone has secret objectives makes it more interesting in that you're all trying to reach the same goal while at the same time possibly sneakily working against it... Certainly worth some more games of that one...

played 2 good games.. both new.. loads of fun and laughs..

    October 3

    • Paul H.

Glad you enjoyed it, what did you play?

      October 4

    • Tony C.

Macao, which was good fun, but we learned a lot about the cards, and not to let Trish get the Pub and Host cards together (netting her 6 gold each turn, which could be then turned in points)! Although, surprisingly, it wasn't Trish, but Claire that won. Then we tried Cockroach Poker, which was a great filler - trying to pass a cockroach off as a rat whilst keeping a poker face...excellent...!

Were are the photos? I need commentary, details of winners /losers /rows and table talk !

Really enjoyed PP. It's something I've been wanting to play for a while. It's a small table game - you have to be able to keep an eye on what that dastardly El Tony is up to. I was surprised to win, having blown my earlier attempt at a coup, and I didn't have the money-making enterprises that Tony and Andrew had. Still, a win's a win!

PP looks good I look forward to tryiing it out at a future meetup as well as the winter crossroads game

G'day, Bruce. Unfortunately I was out Thursday, else I would have be happy to offer you a lift back to Shillington. I'm also away in 2 weeks time (something's happening in Germany, I believe) but after that give me a call.

I will do my best to keep you updated.

Doesn't look like I am going to make. I hope whoever takes my place enjoys the winter zombiland game, see you all next time...

It's been a long time, but if it's not too late I'll come along tomorrow (and hopefully more often in the future!). Like the sound of some games with more simple rules to ease me into gaming again...;-)

    October 2

    • Tony C.

Well, I've now got Splendor and Camel Up, that should be simple, easy-going fun....

      October 3

  • Daniel P.

I succumbed and got dead of winter so can bring that. Also might bring fiasco, terra mystica and game of thrones.

You know the police say it is bad form to make card inserts from the flesh of your enemies.

      October 3

    • Tony A.

That might be what they say to you but the Sheriff told me it was fine to use the Zombies that way. Just don't get too close to the tray that still has teeth........

      October 3

  • Trish C.

just to say Keef and Claire a bit uncertain for tonight..

      October 1

    • Tony A.

Hi I would really love top come along but Now i am without a car and need an offer of help to get me back to Shillington (towards Barton le Clay)after the finish as there are no buses that late....anyone going my way?

    October 2

  • Tony C.

I've been getting a couple of 'lighter' games, so might have Camel Up (gambling on Camel races, anyone? (it did win the Spiel Des Jahres), and Splendor (Spiel Des Jahres nominee that many people expected to win, from what I can gather, although apparently it was no match for Camel Race gambling!).

    September 30

    • Trish C.

Love 'Splendour' and the 'chips' are lovely to use! Camels is fun too.

      October 1

    • Tony C.

Tony, Trish - cheers for the info - both sound like good fillers, which is great...

Hi, it looks like Friday night I can bring a friend, we are both newbies and happy to try anything. At the venue is there any food or drinks or can we bring something as its 7pm-10pm prime feeding time

    October 1

    • john

There is nothing on site, but it's very near a mini-supermarket where overpriced goodies can be purchased by those hungry people that forgot to bring any snacks with them...

      October 1

    • john

You might also want to express an interest in Dead of Winter (I'm not sure how many people have already expressed an interest) - but it's a good social game, and the rules are fairly simply, so it should be a good laugh. It's also (mostly) co-operative with (possibly) multiple winners.

  • Paul H.

Tim can you bring one of your train themed games I realise I have never played Ticket to ride but anything with a train will do!

    September 29

    • john

A or B would be equally funny...

      September 29

    • Paul H.

I think its 'cos you look like you have a notebook with train numbers and an anorak at the back of a cupboard. (lol ;-S) anyway I have played Railway Rivals at Gamesday 1984 with the inventor and two guys from Cambridge uni who wrote a book about D&D!! (apparently you have to pronounce it with a Scottish accent!) This where we need a geeklist of great games that use chinagraph pencils!

      September 30

  • Trish C.

I'll bring ticket to ride just in case anyone would like to play!! I like Ticket to Ride! Sometimes I even stand a chance of winning!!! Rarely.. but sometimes!!!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
