A Fall Ball (of yarn)! A field trip celebrating 1 year of meeting at Starbucks!

Come celebrate a year's worth of wonderful yarn camaraderie with our awesome Stitch n Bitch Oxford Valley Yarn Artist friends!!!  If you join us, we will carpool to Bethlehem, PA where we will have a special raffle prize party and lunch in Bethlehem.  (Our lunch location will be updated soon.)  After lunch we will travel to one of the region's best yarn stores.

The Knitter's Edge www.theknittersedge.com has been featured in Vogue magazine and has visitors and groups from all over the region (some even traveling from further away than us).  I have booked a class for any knitters that are interested.  The class runs from 1PM to 3PM.  It will cover cast on and bind off knitting techniques and is great for beginners as well as advanced knitters.  The class costs $6 per person and class members are asked to bring several pairs of needles as well as a set of double pointed needles.  These needles should all be size 6-8 US.  The class will be capped at 16 students from our group because of classroom size, however there is no limit on how many people can browse the store if you don't take the class.

If you would like to go on the trip but are not interested in the class, you can bring a yarn project to work on at the store or just browse their yarn for a few hours during the class.  If you are adventurous, I can give you easy directions to the upscale shopping of downtown Bethlehem to visit during our time at the yarn store.  We will stay at the yarn store until they close at 4 (or earlier if we are all ready to leave) and then we will head back home.  It takes me about an hour and a half to get to Bethlehem from here and we should be back at Starbucks by 5:30 in time to get back to our homes before dinner.

COSTS:  Field trip attendees will be responsble for paying for their own lunch.  I will ask each group member privately what the cost should be (such as pizza, Subway sandwiches or a nice catering tray) and then let everyone know what the approximate price is a few days before the trip.  You will have an opportunity to contact me privately if the determined lunch price is not in your budget, so don't let lunch stop you from going.  If you are taking the class you will also be responsible for the $6 class fee.  It would be nice to make a $5-10 gas donation to the carpool driver if you are a passenger but I will make sure that that is a good will donation NOT a requirement (and I will make sure it is your anonymous choice by collecting gas money beforehand).

I apologize for the short notice on this event.  The Knitter's Edge is so busy with mulitple classes a day that it was hard to find a date in common before the holiday season.  If you can't make this special event, I already have some great ideas for a spring fling in April that will have plenty of advance notice.

PLEASE RSVP BY NEXT THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 26 AT THE LATEST. (the sooner the better because I need to tell the store how many people will be in the class).

I have asked 3 RSVP questions that only I will see the answers to.  Please feel free to email me with any questions or suggestions about this event.  Hope you can join us!

Look what was in the Oct 8th Knitter's Edge newsletter! Our deepest thanks to the 2 large groups that visited us on Saturday. It was so wonderful to see so many knitters and crochetters dedicated to their craft- willing to travel far to enjoy new yarns, new ideas, and new friends. To all of you out there- we at The Knitter's Edge love the visits from knitting guilds, yarn crawlers, and other groups. We feel blessed to meet all of you and enjoy making your visit special. Just call us to let us know you what day your group is coming. We always try to have extra sales people, winders, and classes (if desired) in place for your visit.

I really had a great time. Can't wait to start using my new yarn.
The Knitters Edge was fantastic, and the idea of a yarn store crawl sounds great for a future trip.

Thanks guys for making our first field trip awesome. Alison's market bag will be super cool and maybe Laura will let us all pile in her car again for a spring yarn crawl for local stores. Many thanks to our field trip driver!!

If you are taking the class, don't forget to bring your size 6-8 US needles. The class teacher said to bring several sets of size 6-8 US straight needles and one set of double pointed needles in the same size. If you have some extra needles beyond what you need and are willing to let others from our group borrow them that would be helpful. I will also bring extra needles just in case. See you tomorrow!
