For this event: Developers Can't Design And Other Completely Untrue Design Myths

Designers are designers and developers are developers and never the twain shall meet, right? Except, not really. The truth is that it can be very useful for software creators to be able to understand the value and process of visual design. We’ll cover everything from design concepts and principles to technical tools and tricks of the trade that developers can use themselves, as well as ways to communicate about design with the rest of your team throughout the development process.

We talked about Pluralsight and someone wanted me to tell you when we had another Pluralsight Meetup. We have one planned and will learn about Fiddler, March 5. http://www.meetup.com/Stockholm-Pluralsight-Study-Group/events/166692422/

It would be nice if we could have a meetup in the future where we can practice our design skills in groups and create for example a quick and modern website or application. Maybe using the course Design School for Developers as inspiration.

This sounds like a great idea! I would recommend checking out bootstrap. It makes a lot of sense from the developer's point of view and you can overcome all those floating div positioning, overlapping problems, etc. which for me it's the most painful part. You can also mod the pages your way! If we could plan something during February I could do a quick demo of it.

Yes!!! Absolutely. There is a course called Up and Running with Bootstrap we could based ourselves on. I can gather some resources.

I wrote down the following list from the tips we got at the meetup tonight:
    - Design for Hackers
    - Design of Everyday Things
    - Designing with the Mind in Mind
    - Style Guides

One of the books that Jen Myers mentioned and one that I really can recommend is "The Design of Everyday Things" by Donald A. Norman. It taught me the value of building things, eg. software ui, so easy that you can not use them the wrong way.

Please don't hold a spot unless you are sure you will come. We have had issues here before with people signing up but not showing up.

Usually I'm the one not showing up. Now that I stand on the other side of the fence I understand how rude that is. (I will show up either way this time, cross my fingers).
