Join certified yoga instructor Jason Amis for a midweek Pranayama and Meditation session to restore and refocus.
While asana practice comprises the third limb of yoga, as outlined in the Yoga Sutras by Pantanjali, pranayama makes up the fourth. Derived from the sanskrit words for "prana," which means breath and life force, and "ayama," which means extension, pranayama refers to an exercise in extending the breath's reach. In yoga philosophy, the breath is synonymous with the body's life force. Pranayama explores this connection by using conscious breathing to boost the body's vital energy.
Moving from pranayama to meditation, the session explores the mind-body connection forged through breath. Working in tandem, pranayama tunes the attention and cleanses the body with air, while meditation clears the mind and releases any residual tension the body has stored.

Yogis who attend the Wednesday evening yoga practice on the Sheep Meadow are invited to walk to the meditation studio together after class.
