Dude, I totally forgot we had a message board for "play outside". Well, Marc and I have been doing just a little bit of outside play since leaving Seattle. Here's a write-up I did for a hell-ov-a game of Fiasco a couple weeks back.

If you're wondering if we miss you, the answer is yes. But if the games continue to be this awesome, we may never return.
Dungeons and Family Issues

Who: Marc, Caroline, Tanner, Andrea
When: September 20, 2013
What: Fiasco

Marc's character was Tinkle Shoehorn--an elf (think Keebler elf) who had been accidentally enthralled by the mage Cerveja de Dragon (Andrea's character). He had a need to amass a horde, probably driven by his deep hatred for his master. When on missions, he would often wear the crown of fearlessness given to him by his master to subdue his cowardly side.

Cerveja de Dragon was a leader in the Anti-Guild Guild--a guild dedicated to destroying other guilds and promoting individual action. As a head of the Anti-Guild Guild, it was really embarrassing to Cerveja to have a thrall under her command, but there was really nothing she could do about it.

Tanner's character was called Gromulus the One-Eyed (hint--he had only one eye). He was a werewolf and also member of the Anti-Guild Guild.

Gromulus's son was the somewhat weird Grrgkhakak (Caroline's character)--a quarter-werewolf who dad gave away at age 5 to be raised by goblins. Every Sunday, Grrgkhakak and his "birth dad" as he lovingly refers to Gromulus would meet for frisbee at the Refuse Pit at the top of the dungeon.

The game started with a bunch of ghosts attacking our town--all coming from down in the dungeon. The Anti-Guild Guild decides they need to be destroyed, and Gromulus makes a bet with Cerveja that he can kill more ghosts. Cerveja doesn't want to do her own dirty work, and so enlists the help of her thrall and the help of Grrgkhakak, who just wants to see the grumpy lady cheer up.

Before the ghost battle gets underway, Grrgkhakak tells his father of his intentions to get married in a week to a lovely goblin dame. Gromulus, although disappointed that his son isn't going to live as a werewolf, agrees to come to the wedding.

There were a few awesome flashback scenes as well, where we learned the story of Tinkle Shoehorn. A father elf with two laughing children and a beautiful wife brings a beautifully woven basket home. Going back to work, he takes a break behind a rock to take a tinkle. He hears a muttered incantation from beyond the rock, and next thing he knows, he can't remember anything from his past, only his need to serve the master.

We also had a flashback of "the day mom left" Gromulus and Grrgkhakak. Mom was apparently a whore Gromulus picked up at a bar. She was looking for adventure, and saw Gromulus as a way to get that. However, after a year of raising the child she never wanted, she told Gromulus she'd had enough. In a fit of rage, Gromulus pounced in wolf form and killed the mother of his child.
Eventually, the big ghost battle began. Everyone was way over their heads, and hunkered down in the trenches kept passing the crown of fearlessness around to raise everyones' spirits. Wearing the crown, Grrkhakak tells his father that he knows he's not really a goblin, and that living that way probably won't make him happy. When Gromulus wears the crown, he says that he was just not ready to be a dad. When Cerveja wears the crown, she makes a break for the dungeon, where Tinkle has said great treasure lies.

Everyone started running for the dungeon entrance, but in the refuse pit, Grrgkhakak stops to pick up a discarded locket that he sees has a picture of his parents on the inside. From the locket emerges the ghost of his mother, who possesses him as Gromulus, Cerveja, and Tinkle run down into the dungeon.

Cerveja and Tinkle find the treasure horde and actually have a somewhat chumly moment, where Cerveja calls Tinkle her only friend.

Grrghakak/Mom go to find Gromulus. When Gromulus realizes that Mom has taken Grrghakak's body, he calls out to her to take him instead. Mom leaves Grrghakak and takes control of Gromulus, although his mighty spirit struggles with her quite a bit. Mom/Gromulus then lead the werewolf army AND the ghost army together down into the dungeon after Cerveja and Tinkle. Before they can kill everyone though, Gromulus triumphs over Mom and rips his own throat open.

Cerveja then totally loses her shit and magic-murder-kills everything. An errant spell turns Gromulus' body into a flower and we cut there.

In the aftermath, we see Tinkle, spotting a elf woman and two elf teenagers from a distance, recognizing them for a split second, and then moving on.

We see Grrghakak visiting his father's flower every Sunday.

We see Cerveja, drinking alone.

And we see Gromulus, on the day Grrghakak was born.
