StorySpiral NYC Message Board › New Event - How to Start an Ecovillage, May 18 (Tue) 8pm
|A former member||
Please join us next Tuesday (5/18) for an informal gathering and learn about starting an ecovillage. Ton Kersten who lives in an ecovillage in the Netherlands is visiting NYC for a few days and has agreed to meet with us. See details below.
Many thanks to Smriti Kapuria who came up with the idea for the event and suggested our speaker!
Question to you all. We don't yet have a venue for this event and we'll no longer be able to meet at our usual location Ciao Stella. Does anyone have any suggestions for a warm, welcoming space - whether a cafe/restaurant with the potential for hosting events or even somebody's home or space they have access to for the event this Tuesday. Please let me know if you can help! Thank you all so much in advance! I look forward to seeing some of you on Tuesday!

Ton Kersten who is visiting NYC from the Netherlands will relate the experience of his community and share personal reflections on starting and growing an ecovillage.
The name of the project - de Buitenkans - is the Dutch word for 'opportunity'. And indeed Ton's community has created an environment where people have an opportunity to express their love of nature and act on their concern for the web of Life.
Ton will talk about how the project began and how it has evolved over time. He will speak to how the community's collective experience to date compares with expectations and will share successes, pitfalls, and learnings.
For more information and photos, visit the website http://www.debuitenka... but please note that the content is in Dutch.
