I'm not the greatest storyteller in terms of pacing but ill try my best. Especially if I hear some good stories beforehand!

Skilled any networking is about making connections with people with the same interests because the more you connect with like-minded people, the more information goes your way. The point is not to expect each time you go out to have a direct benefit to you. The point is to connect to as much people as you can and to share with them your passion. Like the experiment on 6 degrees, you are most likely to get to your goal without thinking too much about it...allowing the mind of randomness to do its thing and lead you to its higher iteration of order.

Trying to make all of this work. Social Networking harms as much as it helps. Does it help? Not if you have something to say. I have sold more books via newspapers and word-of-mouth than I possibly could have via social networking.

Good reads, by the way, is only good for giving books away for free. I had a shot at being a mid-list author. Somehow word-of-mouth and newspaper/magazine articles seem to work where the much vaunted net does not.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
