Strange Group July Meet Up

Hello Strange Groupers!

Our first meet up in June was a great success. Continuing on our goal to introduce new and emerging topics in software in an accessible way, we will be hosting our second meet up at the new SoundCloud offices.

Talk 1: Towards point-free style in Javascript by Daniel Kirsch

Explore the wonders of point free function composition, popular in the land of Haskell, in Javascript. Daniel will explore how and why Javascripters can benefit from this style of programming.

Talk 2:  C - A Revolution in Systems Programming by Txus Bach

Introducing C, a modern, practical language for systems programming!

Lightning Talk 1: Intro to PostScript by Marcel Weiher

A quick look at PostScript as an interesting language in its own right and its obvious connections to programmable graphics.

Nice meetup. It's always good to hear about both emerging _and_ established old stuff. And personally I'm always happy to see when people realize that their laser printer can't just print the 873rd generation of a game of life, but also compute it on its own.

Darn. Both Strange Group meetings have collided with both meetings of our Scala user group in Leipzig. At this rate I'll *never* make it :-(
