I mainly write for women's magazines, but also newspapers and a few weekend supplements. I'm also an aspiring scriptwriter and am currently working on a TV comedy drama. When I say working on it, I obviously mean dreaming up what I'll say once I've achieved greatness and journalists ask me what influences my work and what I have for breakfast etc. I basically need a rocket up my arse and hope this group will inspire me.
Vernon God Little by DBC Pierre. Such innovative use of language. Not one tired metaphor or cliché in there.
A piece by Charlie Brooker in today's Guardian in which he described the sky as: 'that bruise-coloured ceiling of floating misery'. I also love the blog Vagenda, which manages to be both pertinent and bloody funny.
I'm a freelance journalist, which means a) my job is very much sofa-based and b) my colleagues are largely comprised of the voices in my head. I basically need to get out more.
A diverse, creative group that is sure to inspire anyone who cares to come along.
