Going International! Street Photography in Brussels and Bruges, Belgium!!!

  • June 30, 2013 · 8:15 AM
  • Zeeburg P&R Coach Park at Zuiderzeeweg

We will begin our day by meeting at a Coffee and Waffle house named Aroma Coffee Lounge, located at a UNESCO World Heritage Site called La Grande Place.  It is as full of history as it is beautiful!  We will explore the city center with its many beautiful and interesting places such as St. Micheal's Cathedral, Monnaie Munt, Parc Royale, and other beautiful and historical places near the center.

See Below for the LOGISTICS of this trip...

Each person will be responsible for securing and paying for their own transportation and/or accommodation for this event.

I will be travelling separately and will meet the group at the Aroma Coffee Lounge, Grande Place 37, 1000 Brussels, Belgium, at 12:30pm.  It is in the square known as La Grande Place, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  According to Google Maps, it is a 6 minute walk from where you get off of the bus.

The suggested mode of transportation is via Megabus, although it is not required.  As of right now, you can still buy a ticket for the Megabus via their website: megabus.com , from Zuiderzeeweg at 08:45, which is scheduled to arrive in Brussels at 12:00.  The return bus will leave at 18:15 and arrive back at Zuiderzeeweg at 21:15.  The round trip will cost approximately €24.  That is 10GBP each way.

Hi everyone! I'm looking very much forward to seeing you tomorrow in Brussels! As I said in an earlier post, due to personal circumstances, I will have to meet the group in Brussels at a cafe. I checked Megabus.com and you can still purchase tickets if you have not done so yet, but they are now 27GBP for the whole trip. We understand that life happens and sometimes plans change. If this is the case for you, please update your RSVP asap so that we are not wondering where you are or waiting for people who will never arrive. If it is necessary to contact me, my cell number is 640454248. Have a great evening! See you tomorrow in Brussels!

for me photography is to learn to look at people, landscapes, animals, or other in a different way, and to share this way of looking. Nothing else.
Sorry not to be with you at Brussels! but I am in France for these weekend

    what is photography to you?

Photography, to me, is the opportunity to express to others the way in which I see the world. The old saying, "A picture is worth a thousand words," is very true. It's much easier to SHOW you how I see things than it is to TELL you. Deep thoughts... LOL! ... The phrase, "A picture is worth a thousand words," originated around 1910. Since a loaf of bread back then sold for $0.03 and it would now sell for nearly $3, adjusted for inflation, our photos are worth 100 million words! Hahaha! (Yes, I know, it's silly! :-) )

“To me, photography is the simultaneous recognition, in a fraction of a second, of the significance of an event as well as of a precise organization of forms that give that event its proper expression.” – Henri Cartier-Bresson

Hi everyone, we are entertaining the idea of driving, as this option might be similar in price as the bus, but offer us more freedom. Is there anyone who has a vehicle that would be willing to drive? Alternatively, we could possibly rent a vehicle if anyone that has a driver's license would be willing to drive. Of course, we would all split the cost of gas, and if necessary renting the vehicle.

There have been some suggestions about perhaps doing an overnight trip an doing both Brussels and Bruges. Anyone who is not interested in an overnight trip is welcomed to go back Saturday evening. Spending the night is not required, but if you choose to do so, you will have to pay for your own hotel room. We can arrange to share rooms and we can look into hostels.

    Thoughts on this?

Are there any other suggestions as to the best way to travel to Belgium? We do not have to take the bus. There have been suggestions about taking a train or even renting a large capacity van and splitting the cost. Thoughts?

Hi everyone! We are changing the date for this meetup to June 29th. Why? Because our group organizer Nava Writz will be back in Amsterdam that day!!! She will be accompanying us on this trip!
