Hitchcock's THE WRONG MAN starring Henry Fonda (1956)

The Hitchcock fest continues! "Musician Manny Balestrero (Henry Fonda) is falsely accused of armed robbery and forced to prove his innocence against the mounds of damning evidence to the contrary in one of Hitchcock’s few films inspired by a true story. With its expressionistic style and unrelenting cynicism, the film walks a thin line between nightmare and documentary to paint a bleak picture of the toll the American justice system takes on the alleged criminal and his family."

I like Henry Fonda and Vera Miles, but I found this one a little bloodless (in both senses of the word) in comparison to the others I've seen so far. I suppose I enjoy Hitch at his high-suspense thriller best, this was more like a melodrama with thriller elements. It was shot beautifully though, and the music was of course great (Bernard Herrman always is). Still, it's worth seeing.

Aw, I'm sorry I missed you. The movie started right at 2:45 with no trailers before so I tried to hang out in the lobby as long as I could before I was worried I'd miss something important. Next time you RSVP I'll be sure to send you my cell number. Also, add a pic if you can -- I was able to snag John before he even saw me. Hope to see you some other time! :-)
