The TJKI's Original Intent Course

This course, over 12 weeks, will assist you in learning what our Founding Fathers really intended in creating the political system that made Americathe greatest country in the world. You’ll discover the major role the religion of the Founders played in the founding of this nation plus much more! This course is recommended for anyone age 10 and older, even if you have attended the NationalCenterfor Constitutional Studies’ The Making of America Seminar. This course is free, but donations will be accepted to help cover the cost of materials and the publications considered will be available for purchase at lower-than-retail prices.

Week 1 - America’s Godly Heritage- Abundant evidence is available in tens of thousands of historical documents that Americahas a Godly heritage. Indeed, Congress itself was the very first Bible Society in Americaand historian David Barton proves it, and the rest ofAmerica’s Godly heritage, in this DVD. Discussion will follow.

Week 2 - The Influence of the Bible on America - In the initial days of America’s infancy, the bedrock and foundations of this country were based upon the thing that almost all Americans held dear … the Bible. This DVDoutlines just what kind of a role the Bible, and the principles within it, played in early America. Discussion will follow.

Week 3 - Keys to Good Government - Barton continues from Week 2’s information to show which principles from the Bible and Christianity were used in designing the Constitution and why these principles form the basis for “good government”. Discussion will follow. The Role of Pastors and Christians in Civil Government- Barton shows us the major role that religion, churches and pastors played during the American Revolution and beyond. This portion of our history is needed to understand why religion and religious faith is being compartmentalized in modern times. Discussion will follow.

Week 4 - A Spiritual Heritage Tour of the United States Capitol - The United States Capitol building is one of the most famous in the world. However, it also has a “secret” history of God, religion and faith embedded in its structure. Barton reveals the building’s not-so-secret secrets to show Americans just how important the religion of the Founding Fathers was.

Week 5 - Setting the Record Straight: American History in Black & White (Part 1) - Black history goes far deeper than most school children are taught these days. Barton goes into detail to present great black patriots during the Revolution, black pastors that played an enormous role, the causes and effects of the Civil War, the KKK and its relationships to the major political parties, the real history of the Democratic Party and much, much more. Discussion will follow.

Week 6 - Setting the Record Straight: American History in Black & White (Part 2) - Part 2 of the DVDand final discussion. An Overview of America- President of the John Birch Society, John McManus, narrates a short film about understanding where political power comes from and how it coincides with what the Founders believed. This DVDreveals that Americans have been misled when it comes to understanding politics and how this issue can be resolved.

Week 7 - The Making of America(Part 1) - This portion of the course, modified from NCCS’ The Making of America Seminar, covers details and a blending of Dr. Skousen’s two ground-breaking books. Part 1 samples concepts of freedom and liberty, a biography of Thomas Jefferson and his works, including the Declaration of Independence, rediscovery of principles used by the Ancient Israelites and the Anglo-Saxons and pre-Constitutional history, detailing the Articles of Confederation and the American Revolution.

Week 8 - The Making of America (Part 2) - A viewing of the full-length feature film, A More Perfect Union, which shows the dramatic events of the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia. Discussion will follow.

Week 9 - The Making of America(Part 3)- Starting with Part 3, the course shows exactly what the Founders intended the Constitution to mean, according to their own words. Part 3 covers the Preamble, the power plant of the Constitution, the House of Representatives and the Senate, organization of Congress, the legislative process, the powers granted to Congress, commerce, naturalization, bankruptcy, money, post offices, copyrights, patents and the remaining enumerated powers of Congress.

Week 10 - The Making of America (Part 4) - Part 4 covers restraints on Congress, restraints on the States, the office of the Presidency, the powers and responsibilities of the President, the Supreme Court, the jurisdictions of the Court and applications in appellate powers, the common-law jury and treason.

Week 11 - The Making of America (Part 5) - Part 5 covers the Union of American States, the amendment process, the Bill of Rights and all further amendments, the vision of the Founders in striving for a higher level of civilization and a discussion of civil rights in relation to freedom and liberty.

Week 12 - Prosperity Economics - The final week is devoted to taking the principles of freedom and liberty the Founders used in everything and applying them to our economy. This includes an understanding of a pure free market, the principles of Adam Smith and the state of money. This includes a viewing of another short film on economics by the John Birch Society and a documentary entitled Money as Debt, plus questions and answers on possible future economic policy.
