Buddhism class and meditation in Ft. Pierce

  • July 13, 2014 · 3:30 PM

Our Sunday events are still at Eric's house, but we have taken the name "The Three Jewels Sangha." The Three Jewels are theBuddha; as an example of a truly sane person, the Dharma; as the way to sanity, open to all of us, and the Sangha; those of us who are working towards that goal together.

As you may have noticed, there are not a lot of people interested in Buddhism on the Treasure Coast, so I think this Sunday Event is a golden opportunity for the Vero and Stuart groups to practice and socialize together with each other and people from the Ft. Pierce area.

The Sunday event consists of a course at which I will present the Buddhist teachings in a systematic fashion.  The cost is  $10 per class, or best offer.  I will use Thich Nhat Hanh's "The Heart of the Buddha's Teaching" as a text, but having your owncopy is optional. Participants need only pay for the part they attend.

Completion of this course will provide the student with a solid background in the basic teachings of the historical Buddha, which will help them understand the schools of Buddhism that developed later, such as Zen and Tibetan Buddhism. There will be courses in the future on those subjects.
Please contact me through the website if you are interested in attending the class.

The address is 8103 Indian River Drive, Ft. Pierce. A good landmark is the nuclear power plant, directly across the river.

Course on Buddhism 3:30-4:30

Meditation 4:30-5:00

There is a party afterwards, from about 5-7:30, which I have advertised separately on this website.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
