April may hold showers ... But this IS Portland! Join in on the fun ... ATTEND!

Ok ... All you "Stumptown Movie Makers 'Gang' with all your various creative talents and interests"! Our next General Meeting is now scheduled ... so you can attempt to plan as best you can to attend!

The following is just an introduction to our planned meeting ... Keep watching. More details to come as they develop!

One thing we will be planning at this get-together is a group outing to do some 'serious or fun' video shooting (most likely for a weekend day in May). This should be an interesting (and perhaps even quite exciting) activity which you may not wish to miss. More on this later ...

If you have a video you'd like to show to the group, please let me know so we can plan for it.

Three video productions were presented at our last meeting, and constructive discussion followed. (...Thanks for the advice! I took it to heart, and it made my NW Kidney Kids Camp Documentary better as a result.)

Don't forget that all our members may post their video work on our groups Vimeo pages.

And even if you don't have something to post you might want to keep watching our Vimeo Site for each new posted video ! (Or at least watch some of the videos already available!) Most of these video productions our members post take a great many hours to produce (from conception to shooting to editing). It's a true labor of love (and hate?). And it's nice to have others look at our hard work, and even constructively comment to help us learn from our efforts.

Full intended discussion topics and other details for this meeting are yet to be determined. (You are welcome to suggest and participate in the planning via email or phone) -- but at least you have the date and time to plan your future around if you so choose.

We had a very good group attend our last meeting ... I know I had fun. There was an interesting discussion and constructive member input. The ongoing Starship Orion Series was also discussed and sounds like it might be a pretty cool project for our members to get involved with!

And a few cookies may have helped to keep the members from serious hunger pangs.

You're welcome to send me your ideas for what you'd like to see and/or learn ... Let's make this creative fun happen.

    Hi everyone! Larry and Craig!
I apologize for not attending at the Saturday meeting. Somehow I screwed up the date and went to the meeting on Sunday. I was very disappointed. Please let me know if you still need videographer for the Friday project. Thanks.

    A great group of participants!
We had a relaxed exchange of helpful suggestions, comments and ideas, as well as some interesting questions ... all added to our discussions ... covering a wide variety of topics. Group participation was excellent, and several group projects which were proposed and discussed will be announced soon on our calendar.
    Thanks to all who attended!

So ... Are any of our Stumptown Members interested in participating in a group shoot, to cover both performers and audience reaction from several concurrent points of view? Please let me know ASAP by email reply or otherwise.

I have seen other entertaining 'flash mob' videos, and this event may well make an interesting video to post on our web site and also advertise our group to Portland's citizens, given enough group participation.

    Thanks, Larry

One possible group activity which we will discuss at our meeting this Saturday is a possible group shoot ... similar to a 'flash mob' ... at a local event on May 11, 2013. Among the many other interesting potential shooting possibilities at this celebration will be approximately 40 professional dancers, who are scheduled to perform, beginning with a dance number which will include audience and bystander involvement.

May 11th is 'National Train Day", and our Portland Union Station will host the local event with all kinds of activities, displays and entertainment. Several thousand visitors (based upon past years attendance records) will again visit the station, platform and surrounding area to view live steam and current rail technology (both full scale and smaller versions), as well as other exhibits and activities. ...
