Range Shoot then Dinner

Let's shoot for about 90 minutes, then have dinner & drinks at Brauerhouse (www.brauerhouse.com).

Article II range does have guns to rent for about 20 dollars if you do not have your own. I'm not going to charge on Meetup for lane reservation unless people really prefer it. Please call Article II ahead of time and reserve a lane for 5:30 prior to the event, or pay the fee at the range on the day of the event and share the lanes I have reserved.

Had a great time cannot wait for the next one. Shooting than breakfast? I can eat a legendary amount of bacon.

      They have excellent bacon!

Very informative besides being fun. People really made the effort to share their knowledge and their arms.

Had a great time. Hope you liked shooting the rifles. Next time I will take out the handguns first.

I just got out of a 8 hour Brazilian Jiu Jitsu seminar. I am going to take the time to patch up my shooting arm, find clean clothes, and take a shower. I may be closer to 5:30 than 5:15. Would my assistant organizers please greet anybody new who is early? You will be grateful of the decrease in smell.

      Ok. We are here.

      1 · July 20, 2013

    • Michael

Showing up a little late, but will still coming out.

      1 · July 20, 2013

  • Mike

Looks like we will be a little smushed then. Thats OK.

Since shooting time for me will be limited it looks like the big booms are coming out tonight. "Boris and Natasha" are coming. I will fill up the stripper clips too. I got a nice AR in 5.56 and a warmed over 10/22.

Handguns are my Range Officer, XDm Competition in 9mm, CZ75 SP-01, and the Buckmark since I have to adjust the sights. Maybe the Walther PPK/S if I have any room left.

    1 · July 20, 2013

    • Nhut

I'd like to see the ppks.

      1 · July 20, 2013

OK, I'll pack it and some ammo for it. I got it used for cheap. It was missing an ejector spring. I replaced the spring but it has a tendency to slip off the extractor. I put a slight bend in the spring and since then 400 rounds w/o trouble. I'll see if it makes 450 rounds tonight. :)

Mike, I just talked to Article II range desk. There a 4 lanes reserved for 8 to 10 shooters. So bring Boris and Natasha. I will bring my 10/22, Hi point and 1911. I am looking forward to this. Of course as Lesley said normal range fees apply.

    July 20, 2013

    • Michael

Article two usually has a sign up list and the lines are usually decent, just in case it gets too cramped

      July 20, 2013

  • Nhut

Bringing the 9mm AR to warm up before my class. If you want to try it, bring extra 9mm.

    July 20, 2013

  • Dave B.

Yea I just called article II and they are not taking reservations. Am I screwed?

    July 20, 2013

  • Dave B.

Oh that would be 2 of us

    July 20, 2013

  • Mike

This is probably to late to ask, but I didn't see I was supposed to reserve a lane. Is it still OK to come?

    July 19, 2013

Since my Bride bailed I asked a friend of mine who is a Lieutenant on a different department. He is your standard gun but. Just got back from NC teaching so it depends on his wife.

Aww, got socked with a work commitment. Next time for sure

Cool I would like to shoot a SKS before I buy one to take apart. I also have a 995TS I call the zombie killer. I might as well bring my 10/22. I only have 1 round for my 1895 Mauser so she may stay home ad well as the Colt Navy.

    July 17, 2013

    • Mike

Bent bolt. Fun gun to shoot. I just finished mounting a Scout Scope on it today so I am curious how she will shoot.

      July 17, 2013

    • Mike

So I am bringing both Boris and Natasha. Boris is the 1959 SKS and Natasha is the 1943 Izzy Mosin. They make great Zombie guns. The Mosin lights up the night with fireballs. Both have bayonets, the SKS is attacked and swings down into place. So if we run out of ammo, we just stab them in the head!

      July 17, 2013

  • Mike

New to the group and this is my first shoot. Soooo..... What does everyone prefer to shoot? Pistols? Rifles? 22s, 9mms?, Carbines? ARs? Soviet Surplus? 1911s? All steel? Polymer?

I don't mind sharing but you have to use your own ammo (ammo ain't cheap and I ain't rich) and no reloads please. :) I got plenty of 22LR and soviet ammo, so I am not worried about those.

    July 17, 2013

    • Mike

I got a SKS I can bring for Dave. I call my 995 Carbine my 'Zombie Killer' so I'll bring that too. I got another case that will hold 4 or 5 handguns too. If I get around to installing the scope on the Mosin she'll come out and play that night.

    Saving my bullets

    July 6, 2013

OKAY, i need to find bullets!!! I even went to Rural King in Champaign, every Walmart within driving distance, there are NO bullets. I remember someone saying there was a way to find bullets online, can someone remind me of that connection?? grrrrr

I got Bulk Ammo to ship to me. They won't ship to Chicago, but my zip code was approved. 9mmammo won't ship to me at all! I told them they were losing out (but i guess it's a sellers' market these days). Paid more than i wanted to, but i am desperate!

      June 28, 2013

    • Dave B.

Do you live in Chicago? I don't know all stupid gun laws there or the principality of Cook county. My buddy retired from CPD and moved to MO. He said he can almost open a mail order buisness ordering fun gun stuff for CPD guys. He just drops it off when he comed up. For what it is worth, they had 7.62 and 5.56 at .20 a round as much as you want. But no .40, .22, or 9mm. Main reason I am saving all my brass and starting reloading, again. Should have never sold my press

I will try and get my Bride to go also

Cool, she had 1 class at GAT and just starting shooting. She tried a bunch of pistols before deciding on the XDM. She was going to get a Glock, but the spent brass kept going down her cleavage!

  • Mike

New on here. I shot at Article II often. So how many guns do I bring?

    June 16, 2013

    • Lesley

Most of us bring three or four, so we can swap amd try each other's out.

      1 · June 22, 2013

  • Dave B.

What are we shooting? Paper? Should I bring more than 1 firearm?

    June 21, 2013

    • Lesley

This is just an ordinary indoor range. Most of us bring at least three or four guns, so we can trade. There are always a few new shooters who want to try stuff.

      1 · June 22, 2013

    • Lesley

And if there is something you want to try, between the ten of us who usually show, with a few firearms each, you probably will be able to.

Question what kind of guns does article 2 have? how much is it to shoot

    June 4, 2013

    • Lesley

They pretty much have whatever selection of handguns they have on a given day. I can't call it because they have a large number for rent but they are quite busy right now. You might call if there is something specific you want to shoot. Lanes are 20 dollars for 90 minutes. 12 dollars if you share with somebody.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
