Range Shoot, then Pancakes

Let's shoot for about 90 minutes. We'll have pancakes at Princeton Restaurant Pancake House afterwards.

Article II range does have guns to rent for about 20 dollars if you do not have your own. Please call Article II ahead of time and reserve a 10:00 AM lane prior to the event, or pay the fee at the range on the day of the event and share the lanes I have reserved.

I just realized, thanks to Hector stepping down. That I too was taking up a slot. I will be at the range if anyone needs a hand with their firearms, but will not be shooting. I am still looking forward to the pancakes with the group thou.

Well I guess I'm step out too. I'll try to make it for the breakfast. Unless you guys need me to help with the group.

That's ok. I can help and I will bring my guns just in case anyone want to use it.

Is anyone planning to bring a .40 semi? I'm bringing a [masked] + some .45 ammo if anyone is interested in trying a 1911.

Adam, your ideas sounded great! For paintball, do places rent the equipment (selling ammo is a given assumption), or do they assume you have your own guns and/or other gear?

    February 13, 2014

    • Adam H.

All of the venues around here rent equipment. Everything you "need" to play is covered by the cost of admission, but if you have your own equipment you are always welcome to bring it. I put need in quotes because most fields will sell upgrades and rent additional equipment beyond what you need to play safely (chest protectors, extra paintball holders, gun upgrades, ect).

I have a Sig .40 S&W that you can shoot if you'd like. I'd love to shoot your 1911!!!

Happy Valentine's day to everyone. Anyone who wants to be Valentine can bring me a gift of ammo and guns :-) LOL.

We're down to a 'doable' number of people at this point for anybody waitlisted who wants to show up and share lanes.

Many of our organizers and members have kindly given up their spots for this events so that new people can come. Thank you.

If you want to only join us for breakfast, we should be arriving at the restaurant between 11:20 and 11:30 AM.

Thanks for the great ideas, Adam. Let's talk more at the meetup!

Well today I spent an hour at Article II shooting my AR15 which was a lot of fun. Got some of the shooting out of my blood.

I'm on the waiting list for this event, but will be shooting at 8:30. I plan on sticking around if anyone wants to chat or would like some help. Look for me in a red NRA Instructor shirt.

    • Lesley

Dave, we should be in Range 1. We'll try to squeeze you in, even if I have to give up my lane, if you want to shoot with us.

      February 13, 2014

  • Arvi

I am not going to shoot on Sunday as I have been to a few of these. I am going to come and attend the breakfast - that is always a blast.

    February 13, 2014

      I'm glad you're coming.

I'm going to drop out this time around. I've been to a couple of these and I want to give new folks a chance to shoot. I'll join next month's meetup.

    February 12, 2014

    • Lesley

That's very kind of you. You're quite welcome to join us at breakfast at 11:20.

      February 13, 2014

    Arvi (and others)-

I think you mentioned you might be interested in shooting a 1911 .45acp next time, so I'll bring my 5" Ruger 1911+ ammo if you're interested. I would also like to try a .40 and .357 sig if you or others want to test fire and evaluate.

Does anyone have a 3" or 3.5" 1911 .45acp that I can try. I'll bring the ammo. Thanks.

    February 5, 2014

    • Hector A M.

I got my Kahr PM 45 is 3" single stack. Striker fire so far is the smallest 45 on the market.

      February 5, 2014

    • Mike

I have a full size Range Officer you can try. I'll toss it in the bag with the 9s.

      February 12, 2014

  • Michael

I would like to try a Glock 17 and 19 to get a feel for fit. I am considering another purchase and I want to compare various models.

    February 3, 2014

    • Arvi

Hi Dave, yes the only reason I would not carry a Sig as a CCW is the cost. Generally I assume that your CCW gun will get beat up from carrying on a regular basis and Sigs are just too expensive. I love my Sig and it is a pleasure to shoot but too expensive to carry. On top of that my Sig is HEAVY compared to the Glock.

      February 5, 2014

    • Instructor D.

lol you can't take that gun with you when ya die so give it some "character." Chicks like guns with scars. Looking forward to meeting ya buddy!

      February 5, 2014

  • Lesley

OK. We currently have a whopping 25 people RSVPed for this event, between confirmed and waiting. I put the RSVP conservatively low, and in the past we've been able to work with a few more people. Obviously, at the limit of three shooters / lane, we are now at the maximum A2 will allow on the range. I would implore anybody who finds they can't attend to change their RSVP. I also highly encourage anyone who is waiting or who has no lane reserved work out now who he or she will share with. This, not to be a jerk, but to prevent nasty surprises when we get there. I have two lanes reserved for SAZA, and other organizers have a few more.

    February 5, 2014

    • Michael

I will show up to support the group and if anyone needs help, but I will reframe from shooting. To save lanes for others, but I will be getting pancakes. :-)

      February 5, 2014

    • Kelley M.

I am RSVP'd and would love to shoot with the group. However, since I have had the pleasure of shooting with the group many other times I will give up my spot for a new person to shoot. I will still come to the event and offer my guns to anyone who wishes to use them. I still plan on breakfast as well.

      1 · February 4, 2014

I need 26 hours in the day. I'm working on ideas. I'm going to have to start hard capping RSVPs soon.

I already have a lane reserved. Who else reserved a lane?

    1 · February 4, 2014

I'm not a fan of range 4 for the reasons mentioned above and there was a lot of down time while waiting for others to shoot or whatever.

      February 4, 2014

    • Arvi

I don;t mind at all. :-) The logistics are a different matter.

For Michael I have a Ruger SR9 if you want to try that.

    1 · February 4, 2014

    • Lesley

Yes!!!! Somebody else who shoots an SR9! /vindication

      February 4, 2014

  • Shooter R.

I have a G17 Gen 4 you can try, too. I do agree with Arvi, though. If this is for concealed carry, the 17 is too big. A G19 would be better, or maybe the new G42. I also have an Ruger LC9, S&W M&P Shield 9mm you can test out. Let me know and I'll bring them.

    February 4, 2014

  • Arvi

FYOI, someone mentioned that I may have a Glock 17 - sorry I don't have a Glock 17. For CCW purposes the Glock 17 is too big. I will be using a Glock 19 as my CCW.

    February 4, 2014

  • Arvi

I will have my Glock 22 Gen 4 which is the same size as a Glock 17 but in the .40S&W caliber. I also will be bringing my Ruger .22LR revolver.

    Michael,

You probably know this if you've shot there before (unless done only in summer), but dress so you're comfortable at only 5-10 degrees warmer than outside temperature.

Last time, I don't recall anyone taking their coats off, it was so cold. Just a word to the (cold) and wise.

Looking forward to seeing you there and then thawing out at breakfast!

Hello everyone i am brand new to the group. I have gone to article 2 to shoot many times and i know it is open for walk in's or i could just call the day before and reserve a lane. I am on the waiting list to be part of the range shoot and pancakes but why? if i just show up then after everyone shoots would i be welcome to come for pancakes? sorry if this sounds stupid i am just learning how this works.

    1 · February 3, 2014

    • Michael

Good question, we get it frequently. You are welcome to show up either way. I will gladly give up my lane for someone if we are too crowded. We reserve between 3-7 lanes depending in availability. We usually have at least 5. If you want to shoot we will make room. As for pancakes! We eat at Princeton restaurant after and all are welcome to join us. If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask.

      1 · February 3, 2014

    • Lesley

To add a note for everyone's sake - I put a hard limit on the monthly events because even if we manage to collectively get every reservable lane in Range 1 (8), it's not comfortable for more than 16 people. I expect a few people to show up who aren't on the list, and a few people to no show. We are flexible. I'm just trying to avoid having more than 18 or so people show up at once.
