The 24th Annual Save-A-Pet Pet-athlon is quickly approaching. Save-A-Pet is a no-kill animal shelter located in Grayslake that cares for dogs and cats for life if they are not adopted. This requires a great deal of money and resources and the Pet-athlon is a wonderful way to contribute. I've spent many hours with these dogs and cats who are so often the victims of cruelty, abandonment, and neglect. Deacon, a beautiful collie mix who I chose as our team mascot, is one such case. Deacon was rescued from a local business who had him tied to a gate as a "guard dog." One of his legs had been split open for several days and a toe had to be amputated when he was rescued by Save-A-Pet. Please help give Deacon and all the other animals SAP cares for another chance.
You can get more info on the Pet-athlon here:http://www.saveapetil.org/petathlon.php
The walk doesn't actually start until 11:00am, if that helps with anyone's scheduling. And if you can't actually make it to the Pet-athlon, you can still join the team and raise funds! Our team, "Suburban Vegans" has a donation page here. Please pass it around to your family and friends.http://www.firstgiving.com/suburbanvegan
