Top of the World (Valley of Fire)

TOP OF THE WORLD in the Valley of Fire

John Lubinski is hosting and leading this event.

Degree of Difficulty: Moderate

Kids/Dogs: NO kids. NO dogs.

Length of the Trail: 3.5 miles

Duration of Hike: 3 hours

Start your year with breath taking views of Valley of Fire on a hike to the top of the world or the highest point from the White Domes road. This is a 3 mile moderate hike with a 500 foot elevation gain

We'll meet at the Iron Skillet at the Speedway exit on North I-15 at 8am to carpool to Valley of Fire. We'll make a quick stop at the VOF visitor center for a last potty break and look around before heading for the one of the best views in Valley of Fire.

This is NOT one of the main tourist hikes. It's trail and class 2 scrambling. Nothing technical at all but you do have to have some endurance because there's a lot of uphill.

Things to Bring: Please bring a camera, appropriate footwear, sun screen, sunglasses and water. You will also need $$ to contribute to your driver for gas and for the $7/vehicle entrance fee. Please bring your state park pass if you have one. (Not national parks)

Keep your organizers phone number with you in case you have questions:

Get well soon! Thank you for changing your RSVP - we appreciate that. It allows someone from the waiting list to move up and get on the hike.

Jon Lubinski, leader for the Top of the World hike, would like you all to know there are some thorny bushes along the way so long pants are a good choice. It's not an easy hike...everything is tougher in Valley of Fire because there's a lot of sand to walk through.

    January 10, 2014

    • Diane H.

Soft sand makes for fun critter tracking!

Geez!! I need a cup of coffee. I used a poor choice of words. I'm unable to join in on this hike, but I am still a member of the group. I look forward to engaging in future adventures with Sue Bright Adventures.

Sorry to leave group this late but I must pass on the seemingly wonderful hike. Have fun.

I have 2 notices confirming my attendance and 1 notice saying I am not attending. I tried to change that one to attending and so now I am also on the wait list. I don't know how this got muddled up, but I am going to be there.

    January 10, 2014

    • Sue SLOW P.

Yes, I am expecting you on the hike to Top of The World. This is muddled up because you were double booked. This morning I removed the one you'd put on for yourself (since Diane already had you on as a guest) allowing someone form the waiting list to get bumped up into your spot. Disregard the notices and just show up. You're counted as Diane's plus one.

      January 10, 2014

  • Bruce H.

    Suzie,
I got an email that said you changed my status to "Not Going". Why is that? I thought I was all set and planned to be there tomorrow.

Diane may have already added me as her guest. Not sure. See you there.

    January 5, 2014

    • Sue SLOW P.

She shows a plus one, we assume that's you.

      January 5, 2014

  • Linda C.

Would love to go but not sure how things will play out. Don't want someone to miss going if I cancel later. So gang, maybe room for 2. Thanks Sue
