3 Proposed Development Projects Directly Affecting Ronkonkoma – Islip Residents The Ronkonkoma Civic Association (RCA-ISLIP) has recognized that 3 new development projects are being proposed for 2013 in and next to their community.

1.  Proposed Development Project # 1: Ronkonkoma Sewage Treatment Plant (Islip side)
2.  Proposed Development Project # 2: Double track Project (Islip & Brookhaven side)
3.  Proposed Development Project # 3: Ronkonkoma Hub Project (Brookhaven side)

The residents of Ronkonkoma located in the Town Of Islip are expressing deep concern over the development of these 3 projects.

PROJECT #1 is the sewage treatment plant. While the “Ronkonkoma Hub” would be located on the Brookhaven side of Ronkonkoma, the sewage will be coming into the Islip side. Some Ronkonkoma Islip residents jokingly say “were getting the crap end of the deal” While that might sound funny, some think it’s no laughing matter. Residents say “We’re concerned about this development and many residents want to see a full impact study on this subject.”

PROJECT #2 is the Double Track Project from the LIRR and The MTA. This project also directly impacts the people of Ronkonkoma-ISLIP with the already overburdened Ocean Ave. railroad crossing. Plus, with more trains going back and forth everyday, residents who live near the tracks can’t imagine more train noise that is being considered. In a recent meeting, the MTA-LIRR has agreed with the RCA-Islip to give this a full impact study.

Project #3 is the primary project in which causes a chain reaction to the first 2 projects. Without the sewage and Double Track project the Ronkonkoma New Hub Project might not occur. Although this “Hub” is not on Islip property, it fully impacts the resident of our side and we would like to offer our input” says Steven Raccugulia, President of the RCA-ISLIP. The RCA-ISLIP is committed to working with all officials, associations and residents to address as many issues as they can to protect the homes, businesses and community of Ronkonkoma. The RCA-ISLIP will be discussing these 3 major proposed projects in each of their upcoming monthly meetings at the Ronkonkoma Middle School. All Greater Ronkonkoma Residents are invited to join in on the discussions.

Meeting and other information about the RCA-ISLIP can be found on their newly updated website www.RonkonkomaCivicAssociation.org or find them on Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Ronkonkoma-Civic-Association/277821138964725?fref=ts.

THIS IS YOUR BACKYARD and TAX DOLLARS folks...your participation is needed to stop the distruction of our residential, single family oriented communities.

They call our town and houses "SPRAWL".  We call them our communities, neighborhoods and our HOMES.  If we do not stand up now against these types of developments here, we can expect this to happen around the block from your home next.
