Welcome to the Summer Fun and Festivals Meetup!

Summer is here and it's time to get out there and enjoy the weather! I'm Katie, the official/unofficial Organizer/Assistant Organizer and I've started planning a calendar with all the summer festivals and events I think would be fun to attend. I hope you join us!

A couple things to note about my meetup and meetup in general:

• Most people come by themselves. When I started, I was terrified to come to an event by myself. Don’t worry! That is what this is all about, to meet people.

• I’m not Julie the cruise director. It’s my job to organize events, not my job to “lead” events. We are all adults. While some of these events require more organization, you need to come with the attitude to be involved and make an effort to get to know each other without me leading a name game every time.

• Be on time. Many of these events are festivals. I don’t want to wait a half hour for people to show up to the designated spot before exploring the festival. I will offer my cell phone in case things come up and you have to be late, to help you locate the group. But I’m not interested-nor would you be if you were already there, in waiting.

• Help. I’ve pre-organized a bunch of activities for the summer. I’m not sure if I’m going to be able to make it to all these events. I however think that people can go without me. If you’re signed up to any event and want to be a “guest host” please let me know. All you need to do is be there a little early and be obvious so people can find you. I’d love for volunteers to be guest hosts even if I plan on showing up! Maybe I’ll give prizes to guest hosts!

• RSVP. While I’m not keeping tabs on whether or not you show up after RSVP’ing, it is helpful to know how many people are coming and to be able to keep an eye out for you. Plus it’s fun to see who’s coming! Please keep it updated when possible!

• Events. While the calendar is packed, if you know of any awesome events or are going to anything you want me to post – email me. I’d love to add them! These are just a few of things I’m aware of and are interested in.

• Weather. Because most of these events are outdoors, we may have trouble with weather. If it gets to where a lot of people are canceling or dangerous to be outside the event may be cancelled or changed to an optional indoor event. You’ll need to watch close. Again, I’ll offer my cell phone for people to call and check. But it’s your responsibility to check for updates. I will try to keep it updated at least 2 hours prior to the event.
