So sorry I will be missing this gathering. I just finished reading Good Lord Bird and would have enjoyed meeting everyone and sharing thoughts about the book! You may want to consider reading Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenidesfor for the next meetup. I hear it is great!

Hi Sharon, I'd have to agree with you. "Middlesex" is in my top 5 favorites of all time!

      February 17, 2014

    • Beth W.

Mine too! I highly recommend it if people have not already read it.

As I mentioned at the meeting yesterday, for anyone who is interested and has the time, I suggest reading The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion. It is a quick and easy read and quite a lot of fun.

Beth, fantastic story! I loved it!!

      February 17, 2014

    • Beth W.

oh yay, another "Rosie" fan! If anyone is on Goodreads (a free website), I post all the books I read and rate them and usually review them. I like to see what others are reading and read their reviews as well as this often dictates what I want to read next. Please feel free to "friend" me on the site if you are already on it or to join it if you are not.

How sweet of you to ask Melissa! No worries on this front - I'll handle it for this inaugural meeting - we can then see how the group would like to handle going forward. Looking forward to meeting you! Amy

Hi Amy, I'm so sorry I was unable to attend yesterday. I was looking so forward to it. I'm looking forward to the next meeting. "The Orphan Train" was excellent. I just recently read it and will actually read it again. I'm sure we'll have some great things to discuss. Thank you so much for hosting again and looking forward to meeting you and the group. Melissa

I apologize, but I'm probably going to have to bail also. My car is under three feet of snow and unless the temperature changes abruptly, I won't have wheels to get there. I will do my best to be at the next one.

    • Amy P.

Totally understand - it's a mess out there and I understand a few more inches are on way today.

I fell on black ice and had emergency shoulder replacement surgery so I will be unable to attend. So sorry!

I'm not yet sure if meeting during the week or weekend is better - I'm open to either and we can all decide together. Would love to hear your opinions!
