All-

For our next meeting we will be discussing Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline. [A link here:http://www.amazon.com/Orphan-Train-Christina-Baker-Kline/dp/0061950726].

Thank you to Tanya and Joy for both suggesting this!!

Our first meeting was great - especially given we are just getting started and getting to know each other.

Our next meeting is a bit further off then I would like - my apologies for that.  It's simply due to some other weekend obligations that are scheduled.  Generally I hope to have a meeting each month.

Looking forward to seeing you all in hopefully warmer weather!

All my best,

Amy

Amazing. I have been. Looking for a group of literate , aware and Nd politically conscious people who enjoy good books. Amy is so delightful and a gracious host. And the other members so kind and open.

Excellent suggestions - thank you very much! I've been interested in Naipaul - but haven't taken the plunge - I'll do that soon! I really enjoyed Franzen's Freedom too - I've enjoyed all of his books - he's quite a talent.

Oops hit return accidentally. The list should update automatically and the rsvps who now can't attend are communicating that- so stay tuned!!! Thx!!!

      March 25

  • Virginia G.

    Hi Amy,
I'm number 3 on the wait list and 3 people have canceled including the last notification. Do you know why it hasn't changed? Maybe since the last cancellation was just posted it didn't change to include me yet. Here's hoping it changes because it doesn't show the wait list going down. It says 13 attending.

Hi Ginny, I am watching this too and wondering why It didn't seem like wait list people were being automatically added to meeting. I did some research on how the wait list functions and it is automatically supposed to add people in the order wait listed... So I am waiting for it to adjust itself and if it doesn't I will take the proper action and "move people" from the list!

Unfortunately I just had to drop my car off at the shop and am not getting it next week, so I won't be able to make it :(

  • Virginia G.

I have finished reading the book and I liked it. I am on the waiting list, too. How many have cancelled?
    Ginny

    March 20

    • Amy P.

Glad you liked it! So far one person cancelled and so the list adjusted automatically. I would expect as the time draws near is when cancellations will happen. Still to far away for much movement.

Still on the waiting list. Should I read the book. ?

    Hi,
I didn't get a notice on the computer about our group so I decided to find the group on Safari. I don't know how the notices go out, but next time I'll try to find you sooner so that I'm not on the waiting list. Maybe, someone won't be able to come at the last minute.

    Hi Amy,
I'm a member of bookmovement.com. Not only do they have reviews of books, give-aways, and top book lists, they have book club guides.
There are some pretty great discussion questions listed for "Orphan Train." You may want to take a look for our next meeting. It's a great website to use for bookclubs, especially because you can receive Advanced Reader Copies and final copies of books, enough for each member in the group!
    Take a look!!
