Here are some helpful tips for SAS members to get the most out of our website (including general help) as well as in-person SAS meetings. More to follow...

General Membership Info

  • Please note that SAS is a PRIVATE Meetup group, so personal details (like meeting addresses and phone numbers, email address, etc.) are NOT visible to the public. In fact, the group Organizers can't even download a master email list (another safeguard to prevent spamming). All SAS members are "pre-screened" by one or more of our Organizers, and membership is only granted for "true" audiophiles who really embrace the hobby.
  • In order to join our group, you must first register at (if you are not already a user), and then SUBMIT the required membership information for SAS. Make sure you really CLICK to submit your profile information to us, and get the confirmatory message from Meetup that your information request has been sent. More help available here...
  • Once you are an approved SAS member, you may (optionally) abbreviate your name, and/or add a nickname.
  • All members are encouraged to upload a Profile picture, to facilitate us getting to know one another at meetings.
  • Members may also contact the Webmaster to request their OWN Photo Album, and upload system pics, album art, etc. Please try to upload only low/med resolution pictures (< 500 Kb file size), so we don't max out our website storage limit. Don't forget to add a caption/comments about the photo.
  • For posting your system details, it's best to upload your system pics to your Photo Album, then post a specific thread in the Member Systems section of our Message Board, to which you can then "insert" images (see details below). The Member Systems section of our Message Board is PRIVATE (only visible to club members).
  • To upload a photo to a Message Board post, the photo must first be hosted online, either on the Meetup site, or on a photo hosting website.
-Click 'Add a reply' on the discussion you wish to reply to. Above the text area where you enter your post, you'll see a toolbar. Click the photo icon that looks like a snapshot, and you'll be asked to either 'Insert a photo from your albums' (recommended) or 'link' to a photo hosted elsewhere.
-If you need to link to a photo elsewhere, you'll need the 'http' address for the image url. When you click on 'Link to a photo,' enter it under 'Image Url' and click 'OK,'
-When you are done with either step and your photo is in the post, 'Submit' your reply. Your photo will be included in your post.

    Attending Meetings
  • Please update your Meeting RSVP's (yay or nay) so the meeting host can plan accordingly for number of attendees, food/beverages, etc.
  • Feel free to bring your favorite demo tracks, but please limit your personal selections to 1 or 2 tracks, when others are waiting to demo.
  • If you would like to demo wires or other gear, please discuss with the host in advance, so proper arrangements can be made for component swapping (if feasible).
  • When chatting (vs. listening), please take those side conversations to another area away from the primary listening space, so as not to disturb those actively listening.
  • For security reasons, all private home addresses are purged from our website following the meeting date.
  • Also, our Meetup group is configured to allow ANY member to organize a Demo/Listening Session above and beyond our official Monthly meeting. If you have some new gear/tweaks/music you'd like to share with fellow SAS members, go right ahead and post the details.

    Website Posting Guidelines
  • The "Email Members" tool (blast email to all members) will be restricted to SAS-related matters only, and primarily intended for use by the Organizers/Board for meeting announcements and other club business. Any group emails sent by "Non-Organizers" will be subject to review before approval.
  • In comments or message board posts, if you insert a "link" to another website, please check to make sure the link is valid (and content "apppropriate").
  • Please do NOT post another members email address, home address, or phone number in the Discussions area without their permission. The "Main Discussion" and "Member Systems" areas, as well as all "Meeting Details" are NOT visible to the public, but the "Local Links" and "Classifieds" sections ARE.
  • Meetup allows members to "TAG" individuals (or objects) in photos (click the "TAG" button under each photo). However, we recommend that members tag only themselves, thus respecting others privacy.
  • Also, for the "newbies" please do not use all "CAPS" in your message posts, as that makes things difficult to read, and is also considered "shouting" in internet lingo.

    Help Publicize SAS
There are a number of ways you can help publicize the SAS
  • Carry a few SAS Business Cards (free for all members) in your wallet to pass along to prospective members
  • Mention SAS to local audio/music establishments, and ask if they'd like to host a meeting, display one of our SAS Flyers (under development), or perhaps offer a memberhsip "Perk", or even become a Sponsor
  • You can also help spread the word about SAS on other audio forums! A subtle way to do this is to include the following BB code in your forum signature (if permitted), which creates a simple HTML link to our website. Just paste the following code into your signature profile (we had to "break" the code to make it visible here, so replace the prefix 'X' with 'url' to make it functional, then test it)!
