Week hiking in NC - Pisgah Forest area

  • April 13, 2013 · 4:00 PM

Week hiking in western North Carolina the week of April 13-19. Looking for a few persons to share a nice rental home in the Brevard area. Persons interested need to have been on at least one hike with the group, be laid back, be an FTA member and just looking to do group hiking and other kick back activities. Leave your ego at home and come on out and enjoy the mountains. This is NOT a hook up opportunity. It is important that we know you. You are going to be living with the group for a week and we want the trip to be enjoyable for everyone. Lots of stuff nearby. Shining Rock wilderness, Dupont St. Park, Caesar’s Head St. Park, lots more. Hiking activities will generally be 5-10 miles a day or feel free to sit out a day if needed.

We can accommodate up to 9 individuals. At present we have seven who have been on prior trips and are coming back. The house is rated for 15 people, but we chose to limit it to number of beds.

Housing cost will vary depending on the individual amenities desired. Most of our bed slots are already filled, but we still have a couple of beds left with cost for the week of $170 to $280 depending on the room selected.

Food costs will be shared at the time they are incurred. Last time there really were no shared food costs. People brought there own breakfasts, made their own lunch, and we worked out dinner as we went along.

At the time we see how many people we have, we need for our hikers to go ahead and pay up. If you have to drop out, you will get your money back IF we find a replacement. Last time we found replacement hikers for our dropouts, but there are no guarantees.

I'm definitely interested in car pooling, especially since my pickup would never make the trip. Would gladly share gas costs/tolls, etc. and drive too! If you are interested, please post a message.

    Thanks, Jay

Marlyn, sorry I haven't gotten back to you. I can ride up with you driving and share in the gas expenses. But I am staying in NC a few extra days and flying home. Would that work for you?

Danno, We usually car pool up. You can always just drop by and do the hikes and stay with the family if they are close enough.
