Well, some of us didn't end up on the "flat tire" campaign. It was hard work on Saturday and I am so impressed with the dedication of all the workers! It was really fun to watch the guys change the tire on the trailer. Even more fun to watch them push the truck through the mud! I was very thankful for the cooler weather since this was my first outdoor adventure in Florida for the season. Linda, thanks for all the goodies. I will put the earplugs to good use! Nice kayak trip up Gum Slough on Sunday. I will definitely return to Potts Preserve to hike along the nicely groomed trails!

The rain didn't scare us away. It brought some welcome, cooler weather. Fun times around the campfire. Maintenance was easy, cut short by flat tire. Excellent smoked pork. Thanks, Linda. Invite us back for more maintenance.

short kayak trip, Friday afternoon, midnight showers that cleared out by morning, with sprinkles of and on but not bad at all. Cooled us all nicely.
the FL. Trail group had great fun working Sat. 1/2 day, kayaking in the afternoon, great pig roast, with so many sides, made it hard to choose, .Early to bed , up to a sunny day with more food, conversation and kayaking,

Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson go on a camping trip. After a good dinner and a bottle of wine, they pitch their tent and go to sleep. Some hours later, Holmes wakes up and nudges his faithful friend. "Watson, look up at the sky and tell me what you see.”

"I see thousands and thausands of stars, Holmes,” replies Watson.

“And what do you deduce from that?”

After thinking for a moment, Watson replies: “Well, astronomically, it tells me that as there are billions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets, others may now be looking at their sky. Astrologically, I observe that Saturn is in Leo. Horologically, I deduce that the time is approximately a quarter past three. Meteorologically, I suspect that we will have a beautiful day tomorrow. Metaphysically, I can see that we are a small and insignificant part of the universe. What does it tell you, Holmes?”

Holmes is silent for a moment. "Watson, you idiot!” he says. “I deduce someone has stolen our tent!”

Hey to all our American friends we're planning on arriving Oct 24 & are looking forward to all the fun & exciting activities this winter. I mentioned earlier that I've put Kevin's 4 day backpack on my 70th Bucket list but I don't have a lot of equipment - toothbrush & plastic trowel LOL. Anyhow many of you have generously mentioned that you have some stuff to share so this is a reminder bring whatever you think I'll need to Potts so I can do a quick try on or whatever & then I'll have a better idea what else I'll need. Special message to Elizabeth P. & Amanda for backpacks (sorry Guys yours might be too big). Also sleeping pads/bags & especially from Amanda --- those edible Chicks. Hahaha. See you all soon. Hugs to everyone, arlene

Just a warning to all that the night of the wild hog BBQ, at the last Potts meetup, my tent was surrounded by a live hog gang and I swear they were snorting about revenge. Maybe this year I will move closer to the fire or other campers. This year I hope to catch the picnic table ride http://flic.kr/p/duE5A6
