The First Myakka River State Park Work Weekend of the year!

Folks,
Time again to send the work schedule for any of you that want to help.
We have had a problem with our camp ground last year and as of now plan
on using the Youth Camp Site 1 as a camping alternative. This decision
might change when we can revaluate the workers camp.
The Youth Camp is directly across the road from the Rt 72 park entrance.
If you want to camp on Fri or Sat nights please contact me for details.
Sat will be the regular work day.
On Sat morn meet in the parking lot, at 08:30, to the left past the guard
shack as you enter from Rt 72. Tell the guard you are FTA and pay no
entrance fee.
For the day you will need to carry drink, food and Sun protection. Gloves
are handy along with loppers if you have them
Any questions please call me. [masked]

Enjoyed the trail maintenance. Bob and Susie had it well organized. The park has beautiful vistas you don't see unless you hike. I didn't get to camp Friday, so I missed meeting some of the other team. It was good to see the other Bob and Mandy again. We made a good team.

For anyone who has not been to one of our work weekends let me give you the rundown... Camping is available Friday night and is always a good time. Saturday morning we meet in the parking lot just inside the gate by 8:30. We usually have 2 or 3 crews who head out into the back country to work on trail maintenance. This includes brush-cutting, cutting overhanging limbs, painting blazes on trees and general clearing of the trail. We usually do a 2 to 3 mile stretch. We are usually done by 2. We meet back and those heading home are returned to their cars. For those staying, showers are available. We then return back to camp and have a great time cooking and spending time by the campfire. Sunday mornings are spent breaking down and heading home. Hope this helps...

Please schedule a weekend hike or something prior to this. The weather begins to cool off in October and I can't wait to hike someplace in the LOCAL area soon!

We will be camping at Youth Camp 1 both Friday and Saturday nights! Come on down!
