FNST Western Corridor Hiking Series - Hike 5b

Western Corridor Hiking Series  Hike 5b  49th Ave. TH to Pruitt TH

This hike brings us through the final FNST area on the Cross Florida Greenway.   Hike 5 is gorgeous.  It's also a bit of a workout.  We'll hike up and down 4 sets of diggings.  Yes, there are hills in Florida, albeit man-made ones!

Sun. Nov. 24  Amanda Hus (Suncoast)

Meet: Pruitt TH  There is a sign on the highway for the turn.  It's a half mile down a gravel road.

Time: 8:30a.

Distance: Short - 6.2 miles (Ross Prairie), Long - 12.2 miles

Location:[masked], [masked]

Carpooling:  If you would like to carpool, please post as a comment

We'll meet at the Pruitt TH and shuttle to the start of the hike. We'll need to know whether you'll be hiking 6.2 miles or 12.2 miles when you arrive - to do a proper shuttle.  Be prompt.

What to Bring:--> 2 liters or quarts of water. Lunch and snacks.  The water is not a guideline. It is a requirement for this hike.  Lunch and snacks.  Sunscreen and bug spray are optional.

I am so disappointed. Came down with a cold and can't make it tomorrow. I didn't want anyone to wait for an missing attendee. I was really looking forward to this hike, but there will be others. Have a great day tomorrow!

Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow morning.
According to Wunderground.com, the weather should be beautiful. high 50s to low 60s. Breezy and only 10% chance of rain. Can we get any better than this?
Don't forget plenty of water for the hike length you are planning to do. Don't forget comfy shoes & appropriate clothing. Don't forget a lunch and snack. Don't forget a smile and happiness in your heart!

This is my first hike with your group. I road bike 25 miles with no problem, but not sure how to equate it in hiking. I just did a level "5" of difficulty for a 5 mile hike to Rainbow Falls in the Smokey Mountain National Park. A lot of the way back was uphill and I did fine. I had thought to just do the short hike to try it out. Is that going to be a problem if everyone else is doing a long hike?

Hi Janet. Glad you are joining us. I think it is probably a good idea to plan for the shorter distance for this 1st time. Looking forward to meeting you.

I have a 2P in Spring Hill. Google maps says it'll take 1hr 10 min to get from the address above as the gathering point to my mtg.
Is the gathering point the endpoint?
    Just trying to figure logistics.
    Thanks
