There is a $2.00 day fee that  applies to all participants. Self pay honor system at entrance kiosk.

Camping available Friday and Saturday in the Boy Scout group site.

The camping fee will be waived.  The entrance to the site is on Auton Rd. past the main entrance to the park on the left.  Restrooms in walking distance.  Come one, come all.... plenty of camping spots!

UPDATE FOR CAMPERS!! WE WILL BE IN THE "A" LOOP.  THERE WILL BE A BOY SCOUT TROUP IN THE "B" LOOP. This is a good thing as they can help us safely cross the road and back!! It will be great!!

Sunday morning pot-luck breakfast for everyone that wants to join in.

Some years back, I came home from my first Suncoast FTA Christmas party....I recall telling Cheryl, "Look at this corny table ornament I won"...

    Fast forward......

This event is different from the others, as it is not about the hikes, not about camping, the food, or how much fun will it be for "us"...but rather a tribute and reminder to us of those who laid the groundwork for hiking the enjoyable and life sustaining trails that we treasure and thrive upon.

There is a worthy tradition here that we need to preserve. I never met Virginia Edwards but feel I know her better now. I know Charles, but am glad to know him better now.....

A great team effort Suncoast Chapter!! thanks Sue, Cathy, Marilyn, Phyllis, Charles, Ralph, Justin, Arlene and the WRP park staff.

Thanks to all who came out.... 60 strong by my count....

    Merry Christmas!

(Some of those for whom this note is intended are not on Meetup so any help in getting this message to them would be greatly appreciated....)

OK, here's th' plan. Friday night I'll be bringing home made vegetarian chili and Saturday it will be home made mango cookies from the backyard tree. I'll probably bring a basket of avocados too. There will be a kayak as well but it won't taste very good.

Any camping info? What time for set-up on Friday? Should we plan to bring pot luck dishes for Friday night and/or Sunday breakfast? Any night hikes or other activities planned before and after the Christmas Party (Kayaking on Sunday?)?
    ----------------------------------------------
Last year's Christmas Party was my first introduction to FTA and I only came for the day. Now I'm a dues-paying member, doing trail maintenance, politically active for nature conservation, camping with my new tent, and going on Lenny's bushwacking "death march" hikes. Thanks for all the great memories; I look forward to another great year of exploring Florida's natural beauty with some of the best people around. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
