Show your love for the trail by doing a work weekend in Myakka River State Park

> At each work party you should bring a fanny pack or backpack to carry
> your drink, food, gloves and, if you have, your favorite loppers.
> All work parties will meet just past the Rt 72 guard shack in the parking
> lot on your left at 08:30 on the Saturday. We typically work until 3:00
> or so.
> The work is not strenuous but keep in mind that we are clearing trail and
> not just hiking.
> We will take a lunch break on the trail and not return to the cars until
> the day is done.
> Camping is available on Fri and Sat nights at the FTA Camp by Deer
> Prairie Slough. There is not electricity or water but we do have a sort
> of toilet facility.
> Because of the sand road to the campground it does require a vehicle that
> can handle it. We will supply transportation for those that need it.
> If you want to camp you NEED to call me to discuss. [masked] or
> [masked]) We welcome all campers.
> We had a great turn out last year and I thank those folks. Hope to see
> you again.
> All work weekends are Fri, Sat and Sun. Fri is set up camp, Sat is the
> big work day and we typically do not work Sun unless we need to finish a
> project
> Feb 3,4,5
> If you have questions please call me.

This is a group of Florida Trail Assoc. members and Suncoast H&BG members committed to the hiking experience throughout Myakka River State Park. Saturday's work day is more than brush cutters, rakes and loppers. The combination of an eclectic group of like minded people, a little hard work and a beautiful, truely wildlife infested state park makes for a day on the trail as good as any.

Wonderful evening with some great folks and wish I could have been there at the start of the trail clean up! :-( Looking forward to the next trip and will make sure to bring the Peach cobbler... :-)

Bill Martin, George, Bob & Susie, everyone else involved in making these weekends happen deserve a big thank you.
The FTA has a great group of people keeping the Myakka section of trails in outstanding shape. Thanks for the opportunity to help out.
Good luck on your AT travels this year Bob & Susie, be safe and enjoy.

I can come but don't think I am strong enough to work all day, any say I could do a half day - I would be driving from Tampa in a corolla, is the car good enough to make the sand drive if I go slow?
Marilyn Preston - just turned age 60.

We live in New Port Richey, nearly 100 miles away but would be interested in carpooling if anyone from up our way is interested. We have a van.

This is a Great campout. After working my butt off, I did ride the MTBike, and Kayaked the Upper lake on Sunday. I saw 3 of largest Otters I've ever seen that did NOT run away, 100+ Spoonbills, 100+ Gators, deer, and 15-20 Wild Hogs!
